Is there such a thing as a double sided electric fireplace insert?

Hi,


I have been searching the internet but haven't had much luck finding what I am looking for and am beginning to think it may not exist!


I have a double sided (pass through) masonry wood burning fire place between my family room and formal living room. We never/rarely use this and would like to convert it to something we would use and would be more convenient/safer. Gas is out as we do not have access to install a gas line and don't want to keep a propane tank on the side of the house.


I'm interested in an electric insert for the convenience/safety and ability to use as a space heater in the winter. However, I cannot find anything that is double sided except for a Dimplex model that may be too large to insert (39") Does anyone know of another double sided model or if single models can be used back to back?

    The problem you will have is that you are looking for an insert that will fit your existing fireplace box. That is not likely to happen. You will most likely need to change your existing opening to accommodate the new electric fireplace.
