The colors you have chosen are dusty...sort of drab....in view of the palm trees I would consider a pale Aqua...more clear and crisp and reflective in the sun...as to the walnut garage door.... this seems in conflict with the coastal goal...and with the white trim...

What you have says "coastal" to me more than the colors you are considering. . . and walnut does not fit IMO. Are you working off some kind of inspiration photo?

Thank you all! I think I did a terrible job explaining what I meant. The garage door isn't getting getting painted walnut, it will be a wood grain door. We haven't ordered it yet, but that is the general direction we are leaning. Also, as for "coastal" here are some inspiration photos we are looking at (realizing the architecture is different). To be honest ...Tracie...you are talking apples and oranges here....the colors and wood garage door do not translate to your home in a positive way...this home and landscaping would never fit in the northeast coast area style you seem to favor..a place that may be cold and foggy and windy in the winter....and your inspiration photos are a completely different animal...much more architectural interest ..detail...angles...trims...your home is big flat open surfaces with very little detail to balance all that depth of color ...to be sure why not try one of the apps for changing color and garage door to see if it feels right to you...sometimes you can have this done at a quality paint store...

You might keep in mind that the garage door may not be the feature of the home to which you want to call attention. If you agree, it may be best to sublimate its appearance, much as you currently have done in the photo you provided.

To my eye, that photo also shows a beautiful blue sky, lush green grass, and good looking landscaping in front of the house that contrast nicely with your house's white walls. If you really want to change the white paint color for the field of the wall (and leave the trim white) , I might suggest you choose a warm, light pastel color in the yellow-orange-peach range, and keep the garage door the same color as the trim. That warm color hue will contrast nicely with the cool blues and greens that will always be seen in the house's foreground and background.

You have a very lovely home. The other comments make excellent points, so I'll add a pragmatic slant. The colonial blue paints in your inspiration photos have a lot of pigment, which does not fair well in our southern climate as they tend to fade quickly. Speaking from personal experience, my south-facing red front door and trim faded noticeably within two years when I lived in Miami. Your front door looks reasonably protected from the sun so a vibrant blue or Bahamian aqua could give that punch of blue-green you're looking for without looking drab too soon. Good luck.

Here are the colors you are considering.................These are northern colors, like coastal Maine, not Florida. These are not colors for homes in Florida as evidenced by the photos of homes presented with these colors as examples. There is a tremendous amount of black in all these paint colors.

Florida Homes demand a cleaner color without black. See examples below. Also be aware that the sun in Florida will fade that simulated wood grain door in short order. Actual wood garage doors can do well down here but they are $$$ and require upkeep.

I am curious. Why do you not consider a Mediterranean house to be coastal?

Beachy colors may not be for you. You might be happier with a neutral.

That is actually rather helpful to see. Because of the white roof, gray pavers and the backyard, the house doesn't easily fit into the Mediterranean style the way we would want to embrace it, but this is rather enlightening and maybe we need to pick something in the taupe/gray shades.

Maybe a good compromise would be a very pale but distinctly bluish gray...can't see a dusty color being a change for the better here...climate and surroundings call for a crisper clear color that reflects not absorbs the light...
