bedroom in a hunting cabin

I have a dark walnut headboard and a dark walnut dresser in this room. Can I use a gray tone for nightstands or another color? Do I have to go with a dark wood for the nightstands? Walls are a light gray and there are 4 windows in the room, making it light and airy.

From your description, I definitely think it's possible to implement a nightstand in a different color. Here is a project of ours that includes a dark wooden bed frame, gray walls, and white side tables:
