I like the light paint color you have now. I also mix wood furniture all the time and prefer the blended look instead of everything matching. If the kitchen and bath are different flooring and you want to replace it, I'd recommend some kind of tile that is not slippery. Maybe you will like luxury vinyl.

I think you should reupholster that chaise in a cream color. And then push it to the left of the window for starters

I think you should put the entryway table where the other black table is. The entryway table is too small to be under that mirror imo. And the black table just doesn't fit the style (maybe spray paint and put somewhere else?).
I added scones around the mirror, some nice flowers, chandelier, and a Victorian rug. This is the style of my bedroom actually. Cool we have similar rooms

That is a totally adorable place...

I hope you keep the furniture different...it goes with the atmosphere.

I'll attach a picture of a color scheme that I think would be beautiful. Different wood tones give character to a room, so I would shy away from painting. Also, it looks like you have plenty of room to place the gilded mirror over the chest, it would heighten the room quite a bit. Then maybe bring in an additional piece of furniture, like a loveseat or sofa depending on how much room you have. Or if that is not an option, reposition the pair of chairs on that wall and invest in a set of prints to go above. A rug and window treatments would certainly tie everything together.

If you do color on the wall, keep accessories slightly neutral. Happy decorating!

Hey I have the exact same type of furniture as the op, but my color scheme is not red like I posted, it's green like the above poster! Cool haha
And I would add a floor lamp near your dresser just for extra types of lighting. And maybe a picture?
And I only suggested painting cause that one specific small table is just so dark and I don't feel like either the color or the design goes w the other furniture. So maybe if at least the color works, the table might work in the space

as far as paint color, you should not go dark or your super small room will feel even smaller I think you should go w a warm, light, neutral (I'd like taupe for wall colors w my design). Or even a warm, very very light salmon/pink color (in the below pics, if almost looks this color). Key words very light lol. Good luck:)

Your apartment is charming and unique which makes it exciting to design. It would help if you could provide a sketch of the floor plan of the entire apartment to get an idea of which areas are prominent.

In any case, because of the amount of ceiling angles, the entire room and ceiling should be painted one pale color. You can focus on one wall for color and details and add interest in the window treatments, rug, art and accessories.

For instance, paint the entire space a pale powdery blue and paint the large window wall a vibrant color or wallpaper. Treat the one large window with an elaborate window treatment and have simple window treatments on the other smaller windows.

For the kitchen and eating area floor, install a classic checkerboard pattern, but instead of black and white, use charcoal grey and tan. Here are some inspiration pics.

I agree with reupholstering the chaise lounge. I would suggest a lovely neutral, allowing the pillows to bring color into the room.

The potential of this space is AMAZING! You are so lucky to have this in your life.

Warm Grey walls, in two different hue saturation, would be divine.

    Something like this.

Or go white on white, having that gorgeous mirror and draperies be the color.

I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

What about a Pergo-like tile to have continuity for your space. Have the wood look without the wood cost?

curious about your suggestion on the Window treatment ..can u provide a photo...

A successful room design is about layering. Paint color, window treatments, flooring, area rugs, key furniture, lighting, art and music.

    Window Treatments:

    1) Focus on the large window in the living room. Think of the window treatment as jewelry for the room.

    2) Don't skimp on the fabric. Curtain panels should be ceiling to floor. The fullness of the fabric should be 2-1/2 to 3 x the width to make sure it is not skimpy. It can be a very simple curtain as long as it is full. (or can be as elaborate as you like: velvet, printed or bold color)

    3) The curtains should extend 12" to 18" past the window moulding.

    4) Install a brushed nickel simple rod. See pic below.

    5) Treat the other small windows the same as the underneath shade as the large window.

Ceiling to floor patterned linen curtain panels

Ceiling to floor light filtering weave curtain panels

Natural linen roman shades with painted shutters

Woven wood roman shades with natural linen curtain panels

    Striped balloon shades

Wood painted valance over extra full curtain panels

Here is an example of full curtain panels on the large window with a light linen roman shade above and using the same light linen roman shade on the side window
