Do you think I should go with another sectional or sofas and chairs? I've always hated his couch and now I think it looks like a giant brown 'poop' that is overtaking the whole room lol

Yes for sure Changing it up to a couch/sectional and chairs is a good idea. I'm curious how you use this room though first- is it more formal or do you you it as more of a hang out?

IMO this is the reason I never reccomend sectionals I love sofa 2 chairs for comfort and working in almost any space

A 3-seater sofa and 2 chairs will be so easy to arrange and rearrange. Buy the sofa to go on the wall, leaving room for end tables and lamps if you want them. Otherwise, a coffee table and floorlamp for the FP end of it will be sufficient. Where will TV go in this room (or not?)

I think the sectional should go as well. It is a bit to massive for the space that you have. Before I recommend furniture and layout how is this space used? Will there be a tv over the fireplace?

This is why I pull people away from oversized sectionals. But that doesn't help you now. If you can remove some pieces of the sectional you might be able to preserve some of it. Most times the joint surfaces aren't finished but if you could, perhaps you could put against wall so not so much is sucking up visual space. That would be short term fix anyway. Then, find a sofa and a couple small scale swivel chairs for maximum flexibility. Also, when selecting new, lighter colors help make spaces look bigger.

Yes Tv will go above fireplace. Our main living room is upstairs.This is downstairs and will be used more for my husband"mancave"ish(but still pretty) when his friends come over to watch the game or If the kids want to play video games.

There is a small wall in the back which is where the coat closet is so there are 2 openings at the back of the room,making is a weird layout plus the bay window isnt helping me at all lol I havent even figured a way for seating that could look nice :(

Can it be taken apart and use only a few pieces? (at least until you replace it).

I could do a 3 seater but I'm going to try and go Monday and just get a new setup I hate the color in that room and its not very comfy :(

I would place a sofa facing the fireplace for maximum tv viewing. I don't have measurements, if you can handle it doing a love seat on the wall. Get an end table between the sofa and love seat. Don't do a traditional coffee table and do a cluster of ottomans. That way you can put your feet up, provide extra seating if it's super bowl in the "man-cave" etc. In the bay window area I would find two small scale chairs and a 18" round table in between. Have a seating area somewhat separate from the TV viewing area and again if you need the seating you can always pull the chairs in. Hope this helps. Happy shopping on Monday!
