Here's the fireplace wall...

HI! I like the couch but the pillows look they "came with the sofa" so are you in love with them? I think a Large framed art would be good on the left and then smaller art and things to the right of it like a gallery wall but with a focal point of a large piece. Making it look congruent wither with same colored frames or same color scheme ...I like the fire place wall that's fun with all the windows

See if you can find a wallpaper you like with a pattern in matching colors (grey brown white gold silver black, some extra color) and make large framed panels.

Or mask tape a large square (width of couch), fill it with loads of smaller frames, mixed color size and look if you dare, some with mirrors, some family, some just patterned wallpaper; remove tape when done and enjoy.

Just need to find the right sized art work and I would do full wall drapery.

Had the pillows 4 ever... They are getting tired i will replace them when I choose drapery. As for the wall I like things very symmetrical ..... I have the same sofa facing the other one on either side of the fireplace.

I like the idea of mixture of photos and mirrors but how high up the wall should the gallery go?

I would not put draperies on your beautiful fireplace wall. I like the simplicity of it, though I would replace the mirror with a painting.

Over the sofa I would hang a large painting.

Beautiful room! I would only put draperies on the lower windows, and only off to the side. I would mount a rod across the entir window, but pull the drapes to the corners. This will give the space some warmth. I like the idea of a large picture wall behind the sofa.

I was thinking in a metallic subtle tone, not quite so obvious......just two shades darker than your wall color. Then a gallery of black and white photos or art on the opposite side. Add color with your pillows and accessories.

If I only put drapery on lower windows what size rod would u use...small? 1inch?

If you really want draperies, I would hang 4 panels, 2 from the highest point and two from the high point of the outermost windows. They could be on individual rods or board mounted.

Don't worry about your tall walls. Decorate as you would if your walls were 8 or 10 feet tall. You want to draw the eye down to your living space not up to the high walls. Start at the bottom and work up. Add rug, chairs in a color or interesting print since your sofa is dark and neutral. You need lamps, end tables and a coffee table.

Make the curtains your last choice. My guess is that if you complete the room without drapes you'll see that they're not as necessary as you thought. Plus, the money spent on curtains could be better spent on a great rug.

Do you have to have the couches up against the walls? Is there enough room to pull them in cozy, in front of fireplace?

Big prints or paintings on walls. If you want to warm up fireplace/window wall use a painting over the FP instead of a mirror.

You have a wonderful space to add some tall live plants. Ficus or palm trees would add an organic element to the room.

Move your floor lamp to a spot near a chair or sofa where it will do some good. Looks lost by the FP.

It seems heresy to me to cover the fireplace wall windows with draperies. Those windows should be the jewels of your room. If you need light control, you could invest in remotely controlled shades. Perhaps the view outside the window is not good. Could not tell from picture.

I don't agree that you should decorate as if you have low ceilings. Your eyes are already drawn up by the windows. While they are up there, you might want to provide something other than bare painted wall for them to see.

I had a large bare wall and lacked the budget for a huge painting, so I used a quilt. Your style might be much more modern, but some quilts with large geometric patterns and bold colors fit in well with a modern setting. I would avoid a big grouping of smaller things because that, in effect, is what your window wall is.

I agree that a picture over the mantle would be much better than the mirror.

Also, the coffee table echoes the shape of the sofas. I would replace it with a rustic large square one in a lighter color than the sofas. Put some lighter color pillows on the sofas, add some tall plants and a couple of chairs and it will be beautiful and warm.

One or two of those floor lamps that make a big arch over the sofa would be neat. All your shapes are rectangles, so some curves would look great.

Oops, you do have a great arched window, but still some more curves wouldn't hurt.

You could install crown mould and a "dropped" moulding below - use an accent color band between crown and drop mould.

All walls as shown are 9' HGT - and 8" between crown bottom and top of drop mould. We reduce this distance to 6" (or 6 1/2") in rooms with 8' ceilings.

This treatment can be done on the side walls in a room with cathedral or vaulted ceiling.
