Dehydrating tomatoes.

Hello. I have spent a considerable amount of time reading older threads on these forums but have a couple of specific questions. I am hoping to dehydrate some cherry tomatoes. We have a new dehydrator and are using it for the first time this growing season. So that means we are pretty inexperienced with it. I gather that I should wash the tomatoes and slice in half, put in the dehydrator cut side up. Should I add salt or herbs before going into the dehydrator? Could I sprinkle with some fresh oregano from the garden?

When done, should I store in the freezer in bags or are they safe in airtight containers at room temperature?

Thank you!!
