I agree with Beverly. You don't have to have your furniture completely on the rug, and it looks like your chairs are in a bit of a bay area, making it hard to even have them partially on the rug. If I may make a suggestion, it would be more proportionate if you had a larger ottoman, something deeper or even a square. You could still sit in front of it and/or on it, but the one in the picture looks a little shallow to me. I would also like to see a small accent table between the chairs. It looks like a cute reading or conversation area, but there is no place for a book or a drink! Just a couple of suggestions! The room is lovely, and I adore those chairs!

And Kimberly, ahhhhh!. You may be so right on my ottoman. I went with that shape for my family of 3 to our feet up!. I may have to think about changing that. And a vintage sewing table base with new top is in the plans, to be placed between the chairs. Good catch.

Though it looks right for the space, I was hesitating on an 8x10 rug for what may seem like a strange reason. I didn't want to have to step on the corner of the rug when passing from the living room to dining area. I don't know why! It's a diagonal pathway that my brain doesn't want to see blocked. But, I think I think the size looks right!
