Hi Rebecca, I vote for stainless. Depending on the white you choose for the cabinets, white appliances can look "off" to me when combined with white cabinets. They're usually a starker white than the cabinets which can be even more apparent in a smaller kitchen. I also think stainless would be gorgeous with the countertop you chose.

One thing I can tell you...our stainless appliances are much easier to keep clean than the white ones we had in a previous home. No question about it.

Have you put a cabinet sample next to a white ice appliance? If it works, I say go for it. I initially wanted white appliances in my kitchen but at the time a cabinet depth white fridge and white slide in electric stove (without a white top) were hard to find.

Good point, er612. Not yet, but we are meeting cabinet folks tomorrow and had planned to do that to ensure they don't clash! They are "white", but not stark white. If they clash, this is an easy decision!

IMO stainless gives you the option of which appliances work for you and when you need to replace something and White Ice is discontinued you can still do it

I think you should go with stainless. It would be too much white otherwise.

Have you considered doing appliances with panels so they blend in with the cabinets? I'd do that or stainless not white.

cabinet panels, and then your range choice is endless, pick a color!! you don't have to get appliances from all one manufacturer

I love the look of white appliances in a white kitchen:) I have had stainless in my kitchen for 10+ years and have put it on the...will never do again list:) I, like you, despise fingerprints but I have 3 kids. But truly it is a matter of preference. I think white appliances will always be a classic look...just like a white kitchen. I also like the fact that newer white appliances are glossy not textured in appearance. The White Ice looks sharp. I like the look of the Kitchen Aid ones as well.

Can't do panels- already over budget just on the cabinets!

I would caution white appliances with white cabinets. We just finished our basement and kitchenette has white cabinets with Kitchen aid white fridge. The color is definitely off but doesn't bother us much. I think it's easier to keep clean than my stainless upstairs.

Only do white appliances if it perfectly matches your white paint...appliance white clashes with most white colors. Stainless needs some extra maintenance, but it looks good, and new finishes are less subject to fingerprints and marks.

I would put your dear deer on another wall to allow more options for the fireplace.

The shutters are only decorative, not usable, but if you remove them, the windows will look narrow and lightweight. Maybe you should paint the shutters and the front door a nice green to tie them to the future landscapin. You should add a tree or three and some shrubbery and flowers. Be sure to pay attention to the space needed by the trees when they reach mature height and canopy width, and avoid planting them where there is any plumbing or power supply lines underground.

If you think people in your neighborhood socialize out front, you certainly have a lot of space to add a covered patio with low stone or brick walls. Then you can add the trees and flower beds or gardens to make the house more interesting. Use zone-specific plants for a higher success rate, and plant trees to give the new patio some shade.
