Thanks Particia. I would like to keep a desk, the bar is not that comfortable. But I do plan on getting a smaller one (its about 28x20), that I could place somewhere else. If I get a sofa bed, where would I place the poang chair?

What is the width of the bookcase behind the bed. Also, can you post a pic of the desk wall?

Ideas to try; place headboard in bay window area using bench as a much needed nightstand area for lamp and clock. Put a nice storage bench at foot of bed for storage and seating. Remove desk replace with a short chest of drawers placed next to chair. A stack of floor cushions area rug for friends. You might consider putting locking wheels on the bench that way it could be pulled into the room to hold drinks, food or a lap top

I would put the chair where the desk is now and the smaller desk where the chair is

I can't tell if the bed is a full or twin size so here are ideas for both:

Thanks! your drawings are great - the bed is a full bed. There is an AC unit under the 2nd window, so unfortunately can't place the bed or the desk over it.

if you get a smaller desk, place it in front of bay windows. you can sit at it facing the windows, remove cushions/pillows, put large plant on the bench along with other things to be organized, lamp, books etc. if there is room move nightstand to other side of bed. this will open up space in front of fireplace for your sitting area.

I would do it like the 3rd picture from er612. Load up the bed with pillows so it can be used for seating like a daybed during the day. Put the desk and seating by the bay window.

Which is the second window? The one closest to the kitchen?

The first pic is basically your current layout with the nightstand moved to the opposite side of the bed...
