3 years after buying our house we are finally doing updates to our mid-1960's split (really tri-level). We are opening up the kitchen to go with a great room-ish concept on the main level. Downstairs off the kitchen is our family room, office, 2nd bath and door to the utility basement including laundry.

Taping and musing is happening now. The painters will be in to prime next week so I have about two weeks to finalize my paint choice.

The issue at hand: colors for the family room? The wall you looking is the TV wall it protrudes about 2 inches from the walls beside it. The wall area under the has the foundation ledge. I'm looking for advice about how to treat these different wall planes. I was thinking about using a dark color on the TV wall to deemphasize the TV and focus the room away from the stairs. I'm also looking for window covering ideas. My aesthetic is transitional/mid-century. My house is fairly small so I want to have an airy and spacious vibe. I'm interested to hear what you have to say.
