Your floors are beautiful and I like it without rugs, too. I wondered if no drapes would be stark, but I still have to say how much I love the dining room AGAIN in this last pic posted above. I also really like the piece removed from the tv cabinet/hutch. That is a cleaner look, too. And I am always in favor of two chairs with a table and lamp in front of a window. You can even bring those chairs in a bit tighter with the table if you choose, too.....easily grab that glass of wine then, ya know!

Yes! I love that material. I like the color too. It almost looks gold. I'm a fan of Pier1 and they have a line of "plush" curtains that are the same texture.

Drapes....do you want them for color? For texture? For something added to the room? Part of me feels like if you put them up, they need to fade away to not distract from the rest going on in the room.

The 'peach' isn't saturated totally, and lifts the heaviness of the few dark pieces. The teal is great, but it doesn't really do it, seeing it from here. Do rooms feel 'dark' to you? The teal flower almost has a golden part..... you'll find something.... :)

I had light gold curtains in the LR initially due to the chairs being teal. The DR had teal curtains because the whole wall had no color--except for the sconces. Should the LR and DR have the same color drapes? In this case a light color as opposed to the dark teal.

Will you try this? Put the curtain rod back up, say in the dining room. Put the white sheers back on, BUT pull them over the way the colored ones were, so they will look like the drapes instead. I just want to see what that looks like. I may not see anything, either, as they may just fade in to the wall and blinds, or I may see something good! LOL This might be my easier assignment yet for you!

Girlfriend.......I love it! LOVE IT! It might look plain, but you have other color in the room and this is just a finishing touch. Covers the edge of the window and gives a hint of texture and did I say I love it?

The little arrangement on the floor....will you try it on the other side of the window? This way the buffet is on that wall and nothing is lined up right beside it. It may stick in to the doorway a bit....you will need to see if that is bad or ok.

Thing is, these are even nice sheers. I am noticing them on the rod......so nice!

What about any of these:

Could the two side pieces of the entertainment center be separated and placed on each side of the LR window? Then place a single chair and end table at the window and second chair next to tv console?

LOVE the vase moved!!! Now...bossy pants on today....can you try the glass goblet from the buffet on the middle of the table and leave the middle of the buffet open? Will the vase work on a side table or the coffee table in the living room?

How about the other vase go in the living room by the tv cabinet where the stack is now? Then play with that stack UNDER the dining room buffet to hide some of the cords and outlets. It may look hideous, but I just have to see if it looks good, bad or ugly. Easy....again, for me.....to move those items back and forget the move ever happened.

Oh....and I see the living room in the one dining room pic.....it looks nice!!!!

I do like the soft paisley one you posted. I think it would soften the hunk of chairs.

Still looking at pics and thinking.......how about stacking the dishes that are on the table on the buffet? Plates stacked one size on top of the other and then other things beside. Leave just the goblet centerpiece with the runner on the table.

Can u totally remove that glass vase on buffet? Seems to detract from buffet dressing. It might look better in a powder room with a large starfish in it. Looks kinda beachy.

I really do like the see through goblet in the center of the table with just the runner. Seems like it could even be left there if you were just going to sit there for coffee and dessert some evening as you can see over it.

Do you have napkin rings? Put them on the napkins, remove the bowls on the stack of plates and lay the napkins across the top. Do you like the dishes on the buffet? I like them there better than on the table.

Gosh....just looked at that last pic again and I don't know.....it might be just fine the way you have it. Truly!

What do you think of it by the tv cabinet? I know we got rid of a plant and another display in the corner....guessing this one might disappear there.

No, no need to purchase napkin rings. I am all about no cost decorating and using what you have. I just feel like that is the way to try things whenever possible. Shop the house, ya know.

Msgadson and abbyjean- awesome transformation. It felt like it was happening in an instant. Good job. Both rooms look fantastic. I have an idea for DR table. Some round placemats with simply the napkins in napkin rings placed on mats. No dishes. I would suggest leaving top of buffet w/ o extra dishes. I really like the drapery panels on either side of Windows for a finished look in both rooms.

Sorry I missed the placemats you already have. Use them and if you like just the gold charger plate.

I've been looking for another DR fixture for months. I'm glad I hadn't found one yet because I more than likely would have bought the wrong size again.

Any thoughts on these curtains for the LR and pillows for the couch and chairs?

You didn't say which State you're from (I'm in CA.) We finished a remodel with a kitchen island 12'+. Our plans were completed & approved at the time of a major Code change, & we squeaked under "old rules". We had a great contractor. Our electrician? His head was already in the New & Much Tougher Regs. He & his crew were fine, but he wasn't creative. That's why I subscribed to Fine Homebuilding & other industry publications during this process. Also read Houzz, especially Bud & others.
We solved the electrical outlets on the island problem by running a covered line on the (plywood?) supporting stone overhang, with a "box of 2 GFI plugs" every 4'. You know, the place where the bar stools tuck under? I wish I were there to take a picture.) Spray the plywood w/semi-gloss, you can't see it. People love to sit there and use their laptops, charge them, etc. Enough room, so no one ever seems to bump their knees.
Trust me, Electricians, Plumbers, etc (sorry, I'm certain I'm generalizing, just like people do about CPAs: me) but some just say, "has to be every 4' even if you end up with 2 in a right angle corner 3" apart! Make certain you double & triple check before they do the install; also check heights, if you can with grout lines, and will you be placing your outlets horizontally (yes, I hope, less obtrusive.) I'm referring primarily to the Kitchen.
Don't get me started on "ganging" light switches! My (head) Electrician wanted to make a bank of twenty for the kitchen (I would have to cross the room to turn on THE single light over the sink! that's what I mean about taking the easy way & not being creative. OK, enough from me. :)

Reminding me of a 'fairy garden' with small tendril-type lights shooting out. Cause chairs have a strong straight look, I'd not think the ball. [ceiling also adds to structured look]

But the softer prettier shape imo. More elegant? What do you think?

No, that would look great imo with a stone fireplace, etc... but I like the 3rd's pretty 'branches' and transitional shape. [the 2nd is more traditional in shape is it?]

My MIL wondered what color it is - seems bronze like other elements in the room.... but there are other more chunky chandeliers too, that might be better.
