Need help with counter color and carpet

Hi! I need advice! I painted the guess bedroom in basement ( kinda of sea foam) I have honey colored cabinet that was hoping not to paint. I will put in a wood plank backsplash on the desk area, also change carpet to a dark gray. I have attached pics. Thank you for help!

Do you have a question for us?

I caution you not to choose too dark of a carpet...it doesn't look like you have a lot of natural light and dark flooring is the biggest light sucker.

I think you should reconsider the wood planking unless you decide to paint the cabinets white or strip & restain them a more rustic color -- as is, they don't look good with the wood plank.

Why do you need a backsplash behind the desk? I would simply paint it the same color as the walls. If you need to add something, shelves or a bulletin board would be more functional.

I just think it needs carater, the bedroom is pretty large and with the color it looks to much.. so was hoping to cut with some wood texture.

Hi there I wouldn't put that back splash but just paint it same shade as bedroom

Maybe add character with art and accents, lamps etc

I agree with others. Skip the back splash and just paint that wall. Keep the carpet in the lighter tones. Add "character" through your bedding.

Yeah! I do have all the accents to put on the wall, comforter, night stand and lamp. I just think the honey color cabinet with that counter top is eye soar.. I was think of painting the laminate counter.. not sure what color.. also carpet I am thinking in gray family since most of the decor is grayish, linen color

Should be painted same as rest of room , or, if recessed ( looks like it is) a shade or so darker out to the edge where corner meets flat area. But same color better.

I would replace the countertop if it's in the budget along with painting the cabinets white which will match the other trim in the room.

If you're definitely leaving the cabinets unpainted, don't do a backsplash at all.

I agree, I'd paint the back of the desk area the same as the walls. If you can't afford to replace the counter top of the desk, have a piece of gray smoke glass cut to fit. It will help to blend the gray carpet with the rest of the room. If you like the gray wool plank idea, consider having some of it framed and use as artwork to also blend your colors. Add lots of light and a good mirror to bring in light into your room. Good luck.

Barbara Almandarz, thank you for feedback.. I do have some artwork with that grayish wood planks.. That is why I was considering putting an accent wall with wood planks.. But I agree with everyone it clashes.. Happy I received some great feedback..
