Thank you for your interest. This was a very challenging
project that had a very happy ending. The main limitation with this kitchen
(and perhaps that could be your limitation as well) is that the width of the
space didn't allow to have a "decent-width" island. In addition the
customer wanted to integrate the breakfast area into the kitchen; which meant
having a nice sitting area at least for four, while keeping the concept of an
active working surface for the kitchen.

The width of the wall where the range & hood are, is just
13'7". So, since there was
extra space in the room beside (the Dining room), we "pushed" the
fridge 15" into the dining room (creating a nice dining furniture that
hides the back of the fridge-see pictures published), gaining space for a nice 45"W island .

The total length of the space from the range/hood wall to
the opposite wall in the breakfast area is: 22'10". This allowed us to incorporate an L-Shaped island that
is 11'10" x 7'9". The width of the island in the area where
the patio doors are, is 48"W.

I designed the
kitchen and the cabinetry for other rooms in this residence and Heritage
Kitchens (www.heritage-kitchen.com), manufactured all the cabinetry.
