Both choices are beautiful! My off topic comment.....Everytime I leave my DD's house I wonder why anyone has dark floors!! Even though there are no doubt crumbs on my light floors.....I do not have to see every one!

I like the one on the right, too-it's neutral and light enough so that you can have any color accessories you'd like.

If you're worried about having a too busy countertop, why are you considering busy countertops? Go for something less busy. A simple quartz perhaps.
There are lots of dilemmas about too-busy kitchens. Not too many complaints about too simple ones.
I would get very tired of a busy granite as well. And kitchens aren't cheap to change!

If you've narrowed it down to those choices, agree, the one on the right. As drdeb said, there are lots of other options, including a less busy Quartz. Or, as Darzy said, leave it as is.

When I say darker floors I don't mean extremely dark just something not so yellow.

If you really, really want a new counter, I'd opt for a more neutral quartz that looks a bit like marble.

They are both very busy. Of the two, I much prefer the one on the right...the one on the right is really ugly to me, no offense. I, too, am curious why you're choosing a busy granite if you like more simple surfaces? There are plenty of more subtle granites that have movement without being speckled or distracting. Then there's quartz or Corian which has even more plain choices.

The one on the left is what some people refer to as barf granite. No offense but it looks like. ..welll. .. so yeah the right. Or just get something not as busy. Your current black one looks good tho

Have you considered other countertop surfaces that are less busy? If not why not look at butcher block; concrete; quartz; or solid color tile, all are good alternatives to a busy granite countertop. You can buck the granite trend. Get something you love instead of settling. Best wishes.

I would go with the light, but having said that, I would go with a less busy design. I think you might get tired of it. How about just plain old white quartz? I think keeping it simple will never go out of style.

Hey Vi,,you still with us??? The $64,000 question everyone is wondering about,,,,"why must you choose between these two if you like simpler, less busy????" I agree about the quartz if you can choose something else. There are less busy granites if you don't want quartz. However, if you held a gun to my head and said I must choose, I also vote for the one on the right. I like the colors. (I like the granite too, but you said you wanted less busy,,,so,,whatever).

I too like the granite on the right but I would advise against it! I think you should keep looking, especially for a less patterned, plainer look.

The floor color right now and for the last 15 yrs is a light honey oak. We have white cabinets and black speckled countertops - very plain and safe. I think that's why I've been looking at something completely different. I guess me thought is if I'm gonna spend the money to change it, it needs to be very different. I've been back to the showroom a couple of times - still no firm decision but I'm leaning towards something more basic and safe.

Have you looked at slabs recently? I have and I'm amazed at the beautiful sweeping movement and flow they have now. And you could still choose a safer light color.
