i think a 8x10 or maybe a 9x12 rectangle centered on fireplace and face couch to fireplace, bigger than what you have but same placement but turn couch to face fireplace, you can then add chairs

Thank you. The problem is if I turn the couch to face the fireplace, looks off when you look at it due to the angle.

Maybe a bigger rug would help. And turn the couch so that it's back is to the wall with the C on it. Then get two cute chairs/recliners to put opposite of the couch with a small table in between. Add a coffee table in the middle!

Hmm.. maybe center the corner of the rug in the middle of the couch and add a loveseat or the two chairs perpendicular to the couch so all the seating is facing the tv. It'll be at an angle to see the tv but maybe thats ok?

Also, the rug might need to be bigger since the room is pretty big and open....

This one, the rug is big enough that all the angles of the couch and chairs are right angles and match the angles of the fireplace (which in this picture is in front of the grey couch). I think that you have to decide between matching the furniture to the angle of the room or the tv/fireplace

Without actual dimensions of the space including furnishings, it is a bit difficult to determine size/shape. Again, I suggest taking the time to "make" a 9x12/8x10 rug out of sheets/blankets. This may help get the true visual you need to determine size.

You have a perfect place for a T>V why above the fireplace and the art hung at floor level really makes no sense and why angle the sofa

Unfortunately, those are niches where the art work is. Maybe add a chair there? Any other thoughts? The only reason to angle is for flow. Here are 2 pics with the couch not angled. What do you think?

i am so happy you moved the couch to the tv angle! but i am really sad you tv is above the fireplace. you will need an ottoman, as the cuch looks lovely but doesnt look cozy, an ottoman a cream throw and a large rug.

the room would make more sense, if the tv was on the large empty wall, the sofa faced it in front of the pillar, two chairs facing the fireplace.

I wish I could do that, but if the couch was moved by the pillar, it would appear to crammed and don't think I have the space for it. Here is a pic with it that way.

Fireplace is too high for tv to be hung above it. It looks way out of scale. Fill in niches where art is hung. Place tv on that wall with couch facing it (pulled forward so front edge is equal w/fireplace). Large round coffee table in front of sofa. Two chairs facing fireplace and upholstered bench facing sofa. OR find a tv cabinet with a finished back which can house mechanism to raise TV for viewing or lower as needed. Then tv cabinet can face fireplace or dining room and furniture can be placed at right angle to fireplace.

new thought angle the sofa to the same angle the bar stool are on.. that might work. I know you dont want to move the tv but honestly it looks uncomfortable to watch and it looks in outer space.

I like the couch facing fireplace, do you like the art niches? do you use both sets of doors? do they go outside?

The doors go to screened porch. We use the door closes to dining area. I think I like the couch facing fireplace as well. I like the flow when you walk in the house since it is so open. Tried moving couch in front of column and same angle as bar, but just does not flow as nice. The niches are ok, I guess. Would you remove or just change what's in it? Was thinking of adding a gold area rug to add warmth and would go with the pics. What do you think of this rug?

Rug is pretty, I would definitely blue painter tape out a 8x10 and see if it works or see if you need bigger, or blankets, etc will work

I think you could do more with niches if you drywalled them then you wouldn't be limited on what you could do on that wall, or you could paint them wall color and add shelves?? or a big set of shelves to put in front

I think the fireplace is fine, albeit not the best location, the people in the kitchen can watch too

The wall is very thin, since the niches have been cut. Do they make shelves that don't need to be drilled?
