Found a Surprising Oddity

Accidentally found that my Ceropegia woodii is blooming, took 1st pix just now, so surprising.

It's 11 pm, so pardon the dark shot, will try for daylight shots soon. Not a lot of folks get to see these unusually shaped blooms. Here's a closer shot:

How cool is that!! I wonder if it matters it's been very warm for 3 days 70-80 day time. First time this has bloomed for me -- wooo hooooo!

Not the traditional leaf pattern of Ceropegia woodii in case anyone notices that (which is usually more marbled & two toned green). But was told it's a known type of variation & part of a complex, by someone who'd know.

Some better shots of this other-worldly lookin' thing. That purplish fuzz are filaments, like hairs at the top of the flower.

Such a weirdo; finally a shot to do it justice.

Bumped, as it's getting buried before folks get to see this odd flower form.

Great, Karen. Let's hope the flower's fragrant. I've a friend in Tucson who also loves C's and she has a few in first flower, too.

Hi Jeff, thanks, don't think it's fragrant I forgot to check.

Here's a few more shots during the day. Hard to capture this, it's small.

So hard to get this:

small but cute.

You have a nice plant. There are some other Ceropegia that have even stranger flowers. Ceropegia distincta comes to mind. I like the C. woodii that are more succulent and grow more tubers. I've tried to get one but hard to predict what you'll get when you mail order. On the other hand.. can't move them because if you do then all the vines tangle with each other. I have a C. cimicidora but not much of it is left after the heat from last summer.
