Hi Guys! Happy New Year! I got a complimentary message that called my attention to some of the negative comments about the price tag on this kitchen that we remodeled. I've noticed comments on other Pros projects too that make me realize how little information the public has about how much things cost these days. I receive inquiries where new clients talk to me about budgets and then show me $100,000 kitchens in their idea books on Houzz! I wanted to help by offering you a little information that might help you recognize and appreciate these high end wonders. Most importantly, not all people who renovate their homes have budgets to stay within. They want high quality materials and finishes that exude luxury and convenience. Products on the market these days have enormous ranges in cost. Here's an example, you can get a $200.00 stainless steel sink or a $2000.00 one and yes, you CAN see the difference! When you fill a room, especially a kitchen, with these high end goodies the price tag creeps up fast. These kitchens are filled with many such products that you can see and some you can't like wonderful kitchen organization products behind the doors, touch faucets, instant hot water at the sink, automation that turns your oven on from a cell phone app, UV light refrigerators that keep foods fresher longer and many more. The granite in this kitchen alone was an exotic that cost the homeowner $11,000.00. The fridge was $8000.00 and so on. Don't forget about the cost of construction either. I know that it's hard to see from a small picture that these homeowners have opted to go for the gold but now you have the knowledge that you need to understand why things cost more than you thought they did or should! I hope now, when you look at some of these beautiful rooms on Houzz you feel like you are in the know! :) As designers, we have to keep up with the times, trends and technologies so that we can give our clients a true picture of what their desires cost. These types of folks know well in advance about these price tags and are in agreement with it! I hope this small bit of info helps you to see that there are many levels of consumer choices out there and there are also plenty of consumers who enjoy expensive products in their homes...it makes them happy to come home to a little luxury in their lives!
