Hey There: We are providing the US market since 2002 with custom build windows and doors Made in Germany - we have met with many competitors and brands and here is our take: you really get what you pay for. If you can afford Kolbe or Marin windows with aluminum clad go for them. If they are out of your budget, Sierra Pacific should be your least expensive pick - however the wood is probably just fir. Keep in mind, that all the windows and doors have to be finished after installation which adds another few thousands to your budget... Good Luck with your project...

Thanks for the advice. Building in Charlotte, NC. Kolbe is almost in price reach. Big price drop to Sierra plus extra features (push out operation) but I have read about the history with Hurd going BK and do worry about the quality/longevity. If price and looks mattered, it would be SP. I am trying to get my arms around the quality and risk of SP. It is a higher end house, and I thought the the Marvin Integrity - fiberglass not aluminum, just wouldn't fit the house. English style white painted brick.
