That is what I am envisioning. Privacy is not really an issue but the evening sun can be brutal in the summer. Do you have any examples of what you are thinking?

Roller shades (either opaque or with a sheer effect) work great with side panel drapery - would work well with your large windows. You can get these motorized as well for ease of operation.

I don't want to put anything over the windows. I am thinking drapery that remains stationary unless we want to pull them shut. Our view is amazing and I don't want to block it.

Drapery panels would be my go-to choice, but you don't appear to have room for stack-back on the fireplace wall. If you've got a western exposure there, keep in mind potential fading of furniture and upholstery.

I would do a simple black iron rod with drapes on each side....these are all gorgeous from MarthaAndAsh.com....handmade lined drapes...they would be fabulous in your room...I am guessing on the colors..looks like a gray or neutral solid it oattern would be perfect!
