i have a bosch rebadged Kenmore Elite.....no alarm. Can you download the manual for the specific model you would like?

I have an older Bosch (not sure how old; it came with the house we just bought) and it does that. It doesn't last forever, but it will annoyingly beep at you every ten minutes or so. Means I can't turn on the dishwasher before we go to bed. It's going away once I get the funds to upgrade the kitchen.

My Bosch, purchased and installed less than year ago, beeps once. In fact, it just went off. Four beeps. One time. It must depend on the model.

Thank you for posting this. We're planning to buy a Bosch too and this won't be acceptable to us either as we run the dishwasher just before we go to bed. Which model are you planing on buying?

My Bosch doesn't beep at all.

My Bosch (SHV7PT53UC) also does one alert of four short beeps at the end of the cycle. But it can be adjusted for volume or turned off. I would advise downloading the manual for your specific model and checking the options.

Ditto what DIY2much2do said above. The alarm is easily turned off or the volume adjusted. This is my 3rd Bosch dishwasher (in 3 houses) and the best yet. It is 100 times better than the top-of-the-line KA I had originally in my former home, which was awful and died an early death. Pry my Bosch from my cold dead fingers.

My Bosch, purchased last spring, does not beep like that. I don't recall if I changed it. My Bosch washer beeped until I changed the settings. The Bosch oven beeps only as appropriate. (No, I didn't buy them all at once, and didn't originally plan on all Bosch, it's just turning out that way.)

We have a 2 year old Bosch and love it. The manual that came with it has instructions for several models and they all have the ability to turn down the volume of the beeps or eliminate them entirely. I haven't changed ours so it does beep, but it doesn't bother us and we don't hear it at night.

We've had that exact model (x2) for a couple of months now. I didn't change any of the alarm settings - it beeps 4 times once finished and that's it. I love it.

ok, I found the manual for this model and it does show how to turn off the buzzer. My husband thinks we should be able to see the buttons in front of the dishwasher. I like the look with the hidden controls but he says we won't be able to see the different cycle stages. Any opinions on this model ? Thank you again for all the responses.

I'm unclear on what your DH wants to see. He wants to see indicators of when it is filling, washing, rinsing, etc. ? DWs don't really do that. You choose "auto" or "express" or whatever and it goes through the various phases without noting each one.

I have a 500 series DW with the handle on the front (makes no difference to function). You push the appropriate button up top, close the door, and when it starts a red dot shines on the floor. I love that because occasionally I don't fully depress a button and it doesn't start. It's so quiet it's possible to not notice for a bit. The red light helps. It's also helpful towards the end of the cycle when there is no noise at all and you want to know if it's finished. If the red light is off, you're done. While the little beep-beep is nice, you won't hear it all over the house or if there's other noise going on.

I would have no other brand than a Bosch. This is my 2nd one, had one in our previous house and put one in our new build. It beeps once to let you know when it is finished but if we have the tv going I don't hear it. Mine has a small red light indicator that shines on the flood below the door that comes on as soon as you start the cycle and goes out when the cycle is finished. That is how I know it is finished. Otherwise, it is so quite, I wouldn't know if it was running or done.

I have that same dishwasher ( looks the same anyway) and find no problem with the controls hidden. I like the clean lines. Also, I find it is easier to wipe off without having to go around buttons. I have had one with controls on the outside(not a Bosch).

Some people like to see the cycle progress, some like a streamlined appearance. So they make models both ways. If you're willing to pay for a higher end model, you can have both. Some of the Bosch 800 and Benchmark models have a feature called TimeLight. It projects a cycle symbol and the remaining time onto the floor. The 500 series you selected projects a red light to show it's running, but not the remaining time.

I have a brand new Bosch. One long beep at the end, that's it. And I think that's adjustable, as everything seems to be with this dishwasher.

My sister's Bosch is about five years old now. No buzzing issues, and I would guess the installer took care of that. She has changed the soap pods she uses and started using a rinse aid about a year ago because the dishes weren't getting that "new dw" clean anymore, but that has worked just fine. The only issue I have with it is capacity. She runs the dw daily and struggles to fit everything in for her family of four and does more handwashing than she'd like. She really likes the Bosch, and doesn't complain, but I don't like watching her do all the dishes that don't fit.

Thank you everyone for the very helpful comments. We are going to buy this model. I like the streamlined appearance and the dishwasher is on sale now at Lowes. I don't really want to get a more expensive model. This one should be fine for a retired couple :-)

As long as we're discussing this DW, I'd like to bring up the question of "Who uses the 3rd rack for silverware?" I do.

When I'm unloading, all I do is slip a finger under the line of dinner forks and lift them all together to drop into the fork section. Same for the others. This particular rack of utensils took me all of 30 sec. to put away - all of it. I use the vacated space in the bottom rack for pots and pans.

Suzanne, the third rack in the dishwasher I am ready to buy does not look like this. The silverware is placed flat in the surface of the rack. Are you sure it's the same model ?

I love the third rack for silverware. And the floor light display. And all the fold down tines and adjustable features in all three racks. I have Model SHX7PT55UC. My sister's older Bosch doesn't have the fold down tines, and it makes a big difference in how much it holds.

I use the third rack for knives and cooking spoons etc.

Ours beeps a few short sounds once at the end of cycle. I also like the 3rd rack (as pictured). It fits small ramekins and cat food saver lids well. I'm struggling with the glasses/mug rack with differing levels. I can't load it efficiently. We have 800 series.

I love the third rack! It's my favorite part. I removed the utensil holder on the bottom.

800 series here too, and also struggling with loading issues and capacity. Where do the wine glasses go? Anything taller than a coffee mug requires playing Dirty Dish Tetris to get things to fit. Also the water softener salt directions were unclear and now all my plastic bottles taste and smell like dish soap. Maybe I put in too much salt, no idea. Tried cutting the dish pack pods in half, got them all over myself and didn't seem to make much of a difference. Yes, adjusted the "water hardness" setting as well. WHHHYYY are the "loose item clips" made to only fit the top rack?? My tall water cups and bottles only fit in the bottom rack and that's where things tend to flip over. Grrr.

Do any of you have a problem with the dishwasher's odor? There are many many complaints online about a foul odor that appears when you open the dw door.

No odor issues here, but we've only had it for 2 months. No problems with the previous Bosch dishwashers either (about 7yrs with those).

I've had a Bosch for 11 years. Love it love it love it. Maybe you can turn off the alarm?

Actually from another blog post on Houzz I think someone mentioned that the dw may have an installation problem which causes the odor and water to build up in the bottom well (which may be why it smells). Try a new question regarding the odor and see if the answer comes up. It was a very informative discussion!!

thank you! We did notice that the dishes aren't dry at the end of the cycle, and when dirty dishes sit in there for more than a day or so they get that musty wet smell, so maybe that's the problem.

Our Bosch 800 was installed last week. The only odor we had from the machine, was when it was brand new. I'm guessing it was the off gassing of the plastic. Once we ran an empty wash before using it, (recommended in the instructions), the smell was gone.

I removed the silverware basket from the bottom, and only use the third (silverware) rack. It's wonderful! My husband thought he would hate placing the forks, spoons and knives so specifically in the slots. Thankfully, he's finding it no bother at all it's great for large serving spoons, whisks, etc., too.

While it's on, a red light shines on the floor. Good thing, too, since I almost can't hear it working! At the end of a wash, the machine gently beeps once.

The top rack is adjustable. There is a place for wine glasses. Just drop the rack down if they're not fitting.

The manual also says to use a rinse aid. A small pkg was included, which we used immediately. I've since added what I had in hand from my old KA. All glass comes out sparkling.

i absolutely love this machine. With the silverware basket removed, the capacity is generous, and the variety of tines allows for bowls of different depths, without them falling over. This was always a problem with any KA I had previously. So much is adjustable, (even that silverware basket can be taken apart and snapped together differently!). Best of all, no pre-rinsing, and everything comes out so clean!

Admittedly I have the lower end Bosch. I love how it looks but it has never, ever cleaned well.

jeannette10, how do you like your dishwasher? I just got a really good closeout deal on one, and had to snap it up before getting a chance to research it.

I really like the dishwasher. It's very quiet and even though I use only the "express" cycle, my dishes come out super clean and shiny. I love the uper tray for silverware. It beeps only 3 times ar the end of the cycle and the red light goes off. No unsual smells which some other reviewers mentioned. I should try the regular cycle just to see if there is any difference but I am very satisfied with the express cycle.

I have a lower end Bosch and it has never beeped. It cleans VERY well. I never knew my Cuisinart bowl could ever look so good again. This isn't a particularly quiet DW, but that's unimportant to me.

Initially I thought mine had a smell, or at least got smellier sooner, as I only run my DW every 3-4 days. A lot depends on the weather, or if there's more food residue (I tend to rinse everything well if it's going to sit awhile), or how long I leave the clean dishes inside before putting them away. About every 6 weeks or so I use one of those Finish DW cleaners you use in an empty machine. Also Finish Quantum Max keeps it smelling the best.

Very late to this conversation... we have a Bosch dishwasher and are wondering if there is any way to get a light to stay on when the cycle is complete? My husband and I work different shifts and we find we are re-running a clean dishwasher because we didn’t know the other one ran it

My 20 yr old Bosch cycle complete light stays on until the door is opened but since we don't pay much attention to that light when we go to put dirty dishes in it, we have found that whoever starts the dishwasher puts a note on the counter above it that says CLEAN and it doesn't get removed until the dishwasher has been emptied which has helped. A note may help your situation if you don't come up with another solution.

Yes that is what our old dishwasher had. Curious if the newer Bosch dishwashers have that feature

We had a Bosch dishwasher in our last house and bought one for our new house. My guess is it it smells, it is because it does not have a garbage disposal. Every month you need to clean the filter. It is not a big deal if you do it monthly. It takes a couple of minutes.

@jones2103, I don't believe so. We use a clean/dirty magnet on the front of ours, as soon as I start a cycle, I flip the magnet to "Clean". When my SO empties the dishwasher, he flips it to "Dirty".
