Do you ever take a break from the larger projects?

I've gotten a top finished but I'm taking a break before I tackle the sandwich and the quilting. I'm making bookmarks for bibles. I found some really cool packs of charms in the jewelry making department, crosses, angel wings, doves, etc. So I make the bookmarks and right before I close the bottom seam I insert a charm on a ribbon. Do you ever break off the large projects and do a few small ones in the interim?

I had to go to Wally World this morning and low and behold, they had some packs of charms, too. So they only had silver colored ones, and now I'm making ones that look better with the silver.

Oh, yeah - I take breaks all the time. As soon as something starts to have that "I have to finish this" feeling I put it away for a while.

Oh yes!.... I am currently working on some Santa Ornaments, they are cross stitch with seeded beads... A very nice break from large projects and easy to sit down and work on if I only have a few minutes at a time....

All too often! :) I have many, many tops that are pieced, even some that are sandwiched, but always seem to start something new. Like Sharon said, that is why there are so many UFOs!

Arent we supposed to take breaks? LOL.

I call it recharge time, those batteries do wear down.

I always take at least a short break between big projects. The room usually needs cleaning and my mind needs a break.

After a really large or complicated quilt that takes months, I love a small project that can be finished quickly. It makes me feel more productive. Like so many others, I usually have at least two quilts going at a time so if I get bored with one, I can switch to another. Now that my scraps are organized, I also take a break by making a string block or a scrappy log cabin block.

That's why I like to miniatures! Still get to make a whole quilt, but with a lot less fabric and smaller blocks.
