Washing Machine Question-Pump Ability

I currently have an eight year old GE, top load washing machine. I do not have a slop sink so the washer has to drain to a pipe that is around 6.5' off the ground. When we installed it eight years ago the GE serviceman actually replaced the original pump with a heavy duty pump. It has worked fine with few problems but the question is what happens when this goes? I could have my plumber install a slop sink but that is costly.
Are any of the new washers better equipped to handle this type of situation? It could be front load or top load. I know that many of the new washers offer an optional pedestal that could raise the machine 1' to 1.5' closer to the drain pipe. Would this be an option? Any advice would really be appreciated. Thanks
