Either white or a light gray (your cabinet color, but lighter) would tie it all together.

The first thing I thought was paint color. I'd do bright white. The blue looks too "blendy."

Your new bathroom is lovely! But I have to agree that the blue paint is just not working. I would agree to go with a light gray, or possibly a rather darker gray. I just visited a friend's home who had redone a guest bedroom. She had painted the room a rather dark gray with white accented metal wall décor on the walls, and a solid white bedspread. It was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!! However, if you try to go with a dark gray in your bathroom, you need to make sure that you have plenty of natural light and electric light in the bathroom. I would try doing a test with a couple of paint boards to test out both a light and dark gray, and see which looks best. Or one other thought, is to do the light gray, and choose one accent wall and go with the darker gray. Best of luck in completing your project.

Definitely the colour of the walls, that is what hit me as soon as I saw the pic. Agree with white or a light grey. That's an easy fix. Nice bathroom

Wow, love acm's first pale blue rendering! A little dose of femininity into a rather cold space. Beautiful. The white walls make me feel like it could snow in there! Brrrr.

any glass going around the shower? that would help. a fluffy bath mat, a natural wood stool or bench or shelf? a green plant? a vase of pink roses? all of those would warm it up a bit. I love the new color renderings.

ACM, not sure how you did those new colors, but I could hug you right now :) Even though it scares me, I'm kind of liking the dark grey idea. My cabinets make it tough because they are already fairly dark grey (Benjamin Moore Coventry Grey). I've been looking online for even darker grey colors. Anyone ever use BM Chelsea Grey or Flint? I'm thinking something like that will look nice next to the cabinets. Beth H., I appreciate the styling tips. The thought of pink roses in there makes me smile. I agree the space feels "cold" and needs some warmth.

For a dark gray, try Kendall Charcoal. I love that color. here is Chelsea Gray. that Hale Navy maybe be a good choice too.

I think Kendall charcoal would be too dark, revere pewter would be too green/ grey or the last comment BM Chelsea grey would be lovely. Do some testers first. What we see in photos can be drastically different in your light! Beautiful bathroom. I love the addition of organic touches in a wood bench in the shower for toiletries, nubby white bath mat, loofah sponges, textured ceramic vases on the counter....

All the swirls are killing the room.

I agree with all the comments about changing the wall color. Personally I'd go light not dark. Either way though, the panel next to the tub that's currently painted to match the cabinets would be better if it were painted the wall color. It's really not a cabinet and it would be better to make it "disappear."

By the way - I'm remodeling my kitchen and my cabinets are also Coventry Gray. If you're going to go lighter for your walls, choose a white. The very light grays don't have enough contrast with Coventry Gray. I didn't want white walls so I chose BM Paper White. On the chips and on my painted samples they looked great together. But in real life it's bad - there isn't nearly enough contrast between the walls and the cabinets. Here's a photo (still under construction and the light isn't great but you get the idea) of the current Coventry Gray on the cabinets and Paper White on the walls. Awful. In real life the cabinets looks great but the walls look dull and uninspiring. Having to repaint the walls and am going with BM White Dove. ADD: ugh I don't know why that photo is all stretched out Click on it and a normal version will pop up.

I'm not. I thought long and hard about t because I really wanted that and it would have looked great with the gray cabs. But it's a 1930s house on a lake. I just felt like it wasn't the right aesthetic. It's ok - the house I live in all the time will be remodeled next and brushed gold/soft brass is in the plan...

I think the white tones down the movement of the tiles, etc. whereas the grays just emphasize it more. Warm it up with plants, a large rug & other accessories. There's enough gray in there already.

The blue is fine, but the overall tone is too harmonize that it didn't create a mass. Different direction of wall and floor tile pattern also add distraction to the overall interior = no focal point . You can consider to repaint the basin cabinet doors into a medium-dark blue, and use a sky blue (at least 30-50% darker than the blue wall) for those louver above the tub, see if this can improve a bit?

jficter9675, Again, I do think your bathroom is absolutely beautiful! ACM did a FABULOUS job with showing you some options. Personally, I find the darkest gray there to be dead on the best choice. I think that darker gray just really enhances the beautiful stone in your nathroom and gives it a much more elegant and lush look. It already looks to be a very expensive, high end remodel; the dark gray I feel makes it look even more elegant and expensive. It just gives it tge "WOW!!!" factor, that tge lovely light blue is not currently doing for you. I had just recently purchased this Consumer Reports magazine, and upon looking through it, I thought of you upon seeing the pics of the gray room below. I thought this shade looks pretty much on par with the darkest gray ACM shared. I had actually seen this photo to share prior to seeing the ACM photos. I need to find and learn how to use that program, it is a wonderful asset as a decision maker. Since I can only post 4 pics at once, I am doing a second post to show you my friend's newly redecorated guest bedroom. It may be too dark for your taste, but I do think it is strikingly beautiful. I think it actually photograhed a bit darker than it was in person.

Wow Linda Chiolero, thank you SO much! The pictures are so helpful and thoughtful of you to share. We are definitely leaning towards a dark grey. I will post afterwards. It will be a little bit as we have two little ones at home and our painter is also daddy :)

P.S. I did already add some pink flowers in there and I love them!

on the ledge between the sink/bathtub, try a potted orchid (Trader Joes near you? they have the best, cheapest orchids). try a couple of the small ones, plant in type of shallow bowl, and set that on the ledge. that would look very nice.

Great idea Beth H! How did you add a flower like that in my picture? I was actually thinking about opening up the pillar that doesn't have the door and adding a built in shelf for flowers like your picture.

Awesome! What do you think about opening up that pillar and rolling towels and putting a plant? I feel like the pillar is too much of a focus now. Not sure if opening it up would just emphasize that more. My goal of opening it would be to soften the room.

If you were to open the pillar, then I would for sure bring in some natural wood. Walnut, teak, cedar, anything warm. Have the shelving made from the wood. You could still top it w/the marble. then roll up your white towels.

The darker gray paint shows the marble off to it's best advantage.

Beth H, that cabinet is access to the tub. I'm willing to lose it though and take my chances. It throws me off too. I've thought about putting the EXACT kind of shelving like your pic, but on both sides (both pillars). BeverlyFLADeziner, thanks for those pics, which definitely resemble my bathroom. We will paint it dark grey. Just need the time. I promise to post pics.

jfichter9573 - I think your pillars there are perfectly fine. I wouldn't go to the expense and effort to remove them. I believe over time you will be glad to have the extra counter space to work with. You may wish to consider adding 2 or 3 tall dramatic style candle stick holders and candles of varying heights and designs ( the base candle holders that is). Perhaps a black wood or iron base would be lovely, or possibly pewter. You could always change up the color of the candles periodcally or seasonally, and also add some greenery cascading down or add some floral candle rings around the base of the candles. To stay on the safe side, you may wish to purchase some of the wonderful faux flame battery operated candles. There are lots of beautiful ones out there now. With the elimination of the blue, it really gives youna wonderful blank slate to bring in abroad range of colors with the candles anx silk flowers, just to give it a pop of color if you want. Also, if it goes with your lifestyle, the pillars provide an excellent spot to rest a tray with a wine bucket and some acrylic champagne or wine glasses. If you do not drink alcohol, I just tried some fabulous Welche's sparkling white grape juice with mango :-)

I agree with your choice of the darkest gray of those 4 photos. Spot on. If you want to warm it up a little, someone mentioned a great idea of wood shelves (in a really rich stain). To soften it up, add textiles--you could select dark gray here too or even fluffy white would work.

Hi Houzz friends! We finally painted and are thrilled with the results. I never thought I would use such a dark grey, but it really tames the busy marble. I bought several sample cans and ended up choosing BM Flint.

It looks really good but if you have a bit more paint left I think it would look better to paint the grey cabinet on the black half wall black. It wouldn't stand out so much and match the other face of the black half wall.
