February, 2017 Quilting/Sewing Goals

I'm thinking there will be more sewing in my life this month than there was last month, but not sure how much more. I'm still working on Bonnie's mystery and have almost all components together for the squares needed. And the top for the Facebook BOM for last year is almost together. I don't have enough of the fabric I used for sashing to use around the outside of the blocks so will see what I can do about that.....

What are you thinking about working on this month?

I plan to finish the wedding quilt and maybe a rag I-spy. It is a short month.

I plan to just get back in the quilting groove. Work has been crazy since October! I did find out my first grandchild will be a boy, so I need to start making lots of boy quilts.

I hope I'll get this quilt quilted. But my finger hurts so we'll see.

I found out today that I need rotator cuff surgery. :(. Hoping to schedule it for Monday. So I guess my goal for Feb will be recovering so I can sew in March!

Neaten sewing room; sort fabric again; quilt?

Sorry Donna! I hope surgery goes well and you recover quickly.

No sewing for me in February - we are in Mexico for the month. Relaxing with Tobey is my goal for the month! I do miss being with my machine ...

Donna, Please don't rush to get back to the machine. Healing completely is best in the long run. Praying all goes well.

Rita, Hope your finger is better and you're able to quilt.

Jackie, So many fun quilts for boys.......enjoy!

I hope to get the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt on the frame and quilted. I also want to quilt a baby quilt for Charlotte.

I plan on continuing to FMQ the wall hanging little by little and start another quilt for the children's home...an I spy.

I'll be doing baby sewing this month for 2 nieces that will be delivering this spring. I also have a doll cradle blanket for my great niece to pull together out of leftover blocks from her baby quilt. I'll also do the lotto blocks and maybe get a jump start on the coming months.

WooooHooooo I was able to get the Facebook BOM together now need to consider the border. Some of the fabric I bought from CT (on sale) got washed yesterday and I think one of them will work but might put a small solid white on first. And, working working working on Bonnie's last mystery quilt.....

I had my surgery on Monday and I've been reading and resting. I read a quilting magazine yesterday...does that count? And I pressed some small hand pieced blocks this morning.

l plan to go back to work Monday. I'm in a huge sling but I can type. :)

Wow, Donna, sounds like you are doing exceptionally well! I cringed when I read about what you were about to go through and chose not to comment. My Sister had that surgery, it was on a Friday, and she foolishly thought she would be able to return to work on Monday with no problems. Also a previous co-worker went through a hard time with it. I think that their biggest problem was that no-one had prepared them for how debilitating that surgery can be for a very long time afterwards. They gradually fully recuperated but were shocked at how slow the process could be. Looks like your recovery will turn out different, let's hope.

Rita, my doc told me up front that he recommended at least a week off. And he told me that it will be 3-6 months of PT.

Today I'm not so sure I'm ready to go back on Mon. I haven't even attempted a shower yet, and the thought of getting ready for work and driving all the way there by myself is kind of overwhelming. Yesterday was the first day I had a normal shirt on (I'd been wearing a huge papery shirt that went around the arm and sling). Today when my DH helped me put a shirt on I kind of freaked out having the sling off.

I know it's a process. :) I'm just terrified of doing something wrong and undoing what was done on Monday!

Can you pretend to be at work? Sit, walk, move in the same manner from the time you normally 'clock in & out'? If you can't last eight hours at home perhaps you should consider returning at a later date.

Thanks, Glass! I'm feeling much better today. I've had a bad cold on top of surgery recovery. I had a shower this morning, we rented a car (our car is a stick-shift...can't drive that for a while!) and had lunch and a visit with DHs family. About a 6-7 hour outing, and I'm feeling pretty good.

A day really can make a difference!

Donna, I hope you continue to have a great recovery. Sharon, so glad you are back to the machine. That would lift anyone's spirits.
