Very pretty room. What style curtains are you looking at? From the picture angle it doesn't look like you have room for panels at the left end. I would use the color of the walls and get some great art with the blue/navy/teal in it.

I was going to use panels but thin ones (most I see are 50" wide so I was thinking of altering to 25"). I want to warm up the space so I was considering a light gray (from the pillow) velvet.

would you plz send more photos from a distance and from different angle of the entire open floor plan (kitchen too)?

I think that will help us pick the right color for your window treatments - you need to treat this entire design as one room because of the open floor plan.

It might be cool to incorporate a stripe or a small scale pattern in the colours you already have going. If you're going with a solid, I'd choose a very nice linen look with a beautiful texture or subtle sheen. A print that has a bit of an injection of another accent colour could be nice. I agree with the earlier post; I'd like to see what else is going on in the connecting spaces, and also what you'll be doing with accessories, where you can also introduce some depth of tone or inject another colour. Maybe there is a possible accent colour you can find in your adjoining rooms?

What's on the other side of the blinds? Does it compete with or complement the room we're looking at? I think you need to consider it as a part of your decisions, unless you'll always have the blinds closed. Maybe think of what's in the window frame like a piece of wall art that's informing your choices.

Coffee table is going to be replaced and I will be working on what to put above the fireplace and piano next but this is a 360 view of the room. Any help with the window treatments is appreciated!

Okay, getting a better look now. To be honest, I'm not in love with the gold-toned beige walls with your furniture. I love the colour scheme (cool neutral) you're building, but not with the walls, which look a bit muddy next to your lovely greys and blues. Have you considered painting before you make a drapery decision?

The other side of the blinds is our covered patio--grill, outdoor furniture,... I would like to take the blinds down because I like the light that comes through but I am not opposed to replacing with a shade.

Should I use curtains at all? IF I do, I am trying to figure out if I should pull from the blue in the rug, the gray in the pillow, or match the wall color...

A tall mirror or artwork over the fireplace would be nice to balance the height of the draperies you're planning.

What about something like a Silhouette shade, which gives you light control and privacy, but has a sheer fabric between the slats so it diffuses a view that may distract. I believe they can also be pulled completely up (or aside) if you want a clear view. I'm getting the feeling you're a minimalist at heart, and this might be a nice option.

No, haven't considered painting... here is a more accurate picture of the wall color. It is throughout the entire house and painting would require a new post! :P
