I am going for a beachy yet modern loft look for my small and narrow living space. I like teal and tangerine as my accent colors and just purchased pillows and bar stools in those colors (see pics). What do you think? I originally had the rug you see under the dining table in front of the couch, but I thought the pattern clashed/was too much with the teal pillows. Does that rug work under the dining table or is it too small or sticking too far out? I plan to hang the mirror over the dining table to make the space look bigger and i have 2 seven foot white floating shelves that I was going to put over the tv and add pictures and other accessories with pops of my colors on top. I'm a bit stuck now and have several questions on what to do for the finishing touches:
- What kind (color and style) and size rug should I get for in front of the couch/tv? I was thinking a sisal jute for texture, but they're not that comfortable. I was thinking of layering a sheepskin rug on top to help with that, but didn't know what size. I don't want it too small to get hidden under the coffee table, but the larger sizes would be about the size of a 5'8' which is the same size as the sisal rug I was looking at and take up almost that whole space between the tv and the couch. I also contemplated a shag rug, but with my color scheme I thought it should be white but I worry it will get really dirty in the main living area. Any thoughts/suggestions?
- I want a new coffee table and like the rustic/reclaimed wood look, but not sure what color stain. Also, I feel like I need a round or oval shape because everything else is so square/rectangular in the space and it might give more space for chairs or just walking around. Do you agree? Finally, my tv stand and couch right now are very low, so I'm guessing that the coffee table has to be low too right? It just feels strange next to the tall kitchen counter and eventually I think I want to go away from that style and plan to buy new couches when I have the money, so I don't want to spend too much on a low coffee table.
- Also, I want to add more seating for when I have guests over, but the space is so small I also don't want to clutter it more. Thoughts?
