I would advise against the horizontal board when the rest of your home is pretty formal, particularly because it will compete with the ornate look of your front entry door. You're trying to execute two very different looks: pick one and stick with it.

It's not 5" horizontal beadboard..............it's called "shiplap", a very farm-like, casual wall treatment. I would continue the wainscot. Pick one or the other but not both.

Wainscotting. For sure.

They are quite different styles, beadboard or shiplap is more country style, but as your dining room is more traditional and the living space more contemporary I think this should work ok being next to the living room. You might want to try to combine the two styles. In this pic I am not suggesting you put in a window seat, but perhaps consider a band of the dining room style trim around the bottom or the top in a narrower smaller version and then have the beadboard cover the rest of the wall. That way you are combining the two styles similar to this pic. I also think that using the traditional piece of furniture in the entry might take a bit of country out of the look.
