The kitchen needs a central ceiling fixture that hangs down beyond the recessed ceiling level. Try a semi-flush fixture with three bulbs that will go up to 100 watts each, then use warm white LED bulbs that are the equivalent of 75 or 100 watts each. LED bulbs are bit longer than regular incandescents, so you may have to try a couple fixtures that have a bit of wiggle room for the bulbs. Alternatives would be globe fixtures and schoolhouse fixtures with 150 watt bulbs, both on rods that extend past the recessed area.

Add LED undercabinet lighting to your new Shaker cabinets.

We are installing LED WAC track lighting in our kitchen. We have white shaker cabinets with fantasy brown counter tops, light gray tile, galley kitchen about 10 feet long. No natural light comes in the kitchen so we opted for really bright light and we are adding a dimmer. It's not installed yet.

I changed the light fixture a few times because I wanted more light in the kitchen and finally I found one that gives me all the light that I need and like , here it is
