I always paint the window and door frames along with the woodwork in my house a glossy ultra white! I believe it makes a statement and looks so crisp alongside the color on the walls and the flooring.

As for curtains, you will want full length curtains that go to the floor for maximum coverage. Color will depend on what color your furnishings and any rugs you purchase for the room are along with your decor.

I wouldn't change the floor to a laminate. I would paint the window trim to match the dark floor to make a focal point. I would do 2 solar shades, hung above the window: 1 for door & other for the entire width of the windows. I would cover the roller top with a wood valance to match shade color, wither white or bone. Clean uncluttered look. Shades can be adjusted for light & privacy at different times of day & night. There really is no room for curtains with covering a good deal of the window something I hate to do. But if you do change floor paint trim same color as walls (assuming you are painting a cream or white color) in semi-gloss and wall in eggshell finish
