C-wire reading 12 VAC

I am trying to install a lync thermostat. After installation, the thermostat does not appear to be powering up. I measured the voltage between c-wire and R, but I am only reading 12 VAC. Although, if I measure at the furnace unit, it is reading 27 volts. Any help would be appreciated.

Run new wire and recheck the voltages.

I did a continuity test by unhooking the C wire and the R wire and twisting them together at the furnace. There is no continuity, so it looks like there is an 'open' somewhere in the C wire. I don't have an easy way to run a new wire harness, so I might be faced with stealing the fan wire.

sure you can steal the fan wire, and the HVAC system will pull you over and give you a citation for being a crook.

HVAC > No fan for you.
