Need advice on kitchen update

Need help on updating kitchen. We are in the process of trying to update our kitchen. My home is approx. 45 years old, Cottage type exterior, in need of new granite and sink in kitchen. Would like to lighten granite, maybe paint kitchen cabinets (by professional faux painter, not myself), new sink, cooktop and microwave. I love the French Country Style with a touch of Farmhouse(cannot update entire house to Farmhouse). Would love to hear suggestions on colors, sink color, etc. We have 8 ft ceilings and a beautiful view of the backyard landscaping and pool. I have been debating a shade of green, due to the tent of color that comes through all of our windows has a green, sometimes yellow hue. Would love suggestions. And any suggestion for the vent range hood for the island and 8ft ceilings would be appreciated as well. Thanks!!

I have a cottage style / French country kitchen - simpler than your present kitchen. My sink is the Kohler Whitehaven "short apron" style cast iron sink. The short apron style can be installed on a standard sink base.

If you haven't already, I would suggest getting some ideas from looking at photos of French Country designer Joanna Gaines of Magnolia Homes (and of the HGTV show Fixer Upper).

Yes - I love my Whitehaven. I delayed my refresh and saved up for a few extra months to get it. I am short and I love how close I am to the sink. I did need to get used to the depth, but that is true of most undermount sinks - you are probably already used to it. My previous sink was an overmount cast iron sink - the whole sink was higher.

Joanna has done one French Country kitchen that I am aware of - haven't seen this season so there could be more, but her major style is Farmhouse which does have similarities to French Country, but is not the same.

it's common w/the french country to do a two tone cabinet. You could paint the lowers and leave uppers wood, or vice versa.
