We purchased our home about 6 months ago and are starting to brainstorm a new kitchen. Attaching a few pictures of the kitchen, it is small (12x13) some of my issues:

- this is our main entry from the attached garage/driveway and we have no room for the kids to drop coats, backpacks, etc. making the side door entry an absolute mess

- functionally, I find the design to be difficult to cook in - the peninsula is in the way and the cabinet space lacks "functional" space - i.e. drawers don't accommodate cooking utensils - too small, cabinets don't accommodate pots and pans next to the oven.

- I like having the double ovens, but wish they were closer in proximity.

- there is no space for kids to do homework/eat in, when we renovate, this is a definite must.

A few ideas we have:

- add a mudroom to connect kitchen with garage, in the exterior picture, the smaller green awning on the left side would be the placement for this addition

- remove wall between kitchen and dining room (cooktop/microwave/peninsula location) - but where would we put the oven?

- bump out the exterior wall where sink is located to increase space, add eat-in area or make room for an island

Our style is fairly transitional, I'm adding a photo of a kitchen I recently saw and LOVE.

Does anyone have any additional opinions or things we should be considering? The functionality is a the main problem for me, the cook - but I think our family of 5 just needs more space... This is our "forever home" so I would like to make it right the first time :)
