Looked back in my emails and for us the cost difference is because we are going with vinyl windows which don't come with black interior. So if we wanted black then we have to go to a fibre glass window or wood which is why the increase. Not worth it on our end

The house we are building is all about the windows so we chose a composite material. Black is a standard color on the outside, if we choose black for interior, it's about 2 -3% more per window.

Yes I think it would look stunning. I'm not a designer at all but feel it looks clean, modern and draws attention to the windows. If we could afford the change I would 100% do it!

I think better white interior, or almost off-white color. This is for two reasons:

a - white can stand near every color

b- much light to the rooms and tiny effect.

black can also stand near every color. maybe these photos will help.

The black interior trim looks amazing. spend the extra.

I'm having a similar dilemma. We're going with black for the exterior but are undecided on the interior. I love the look of the black frames against a white wall but I'm not sure what other interior wall colors will look nice. My wife loves light blues and greens so I'm particularly wondering about those. Does anyone have any insight?

Without reading the above comments I can tell you that I have personally found at our cottage that having a dark frame around the window interior (such as dark stained wood in our case) draws the eye to the view outside. I can't speak for black interior windows but if it were me I would keep them less fussy without grids if you want the eye to be drawn outside to nature. Decide your focus (nature or interior decor or design statement) first then figure out how best to enhance it.

I guess from reading the comments that you have already decided, but I figured what the hay...I’ll toss in my 2-cents worth anyway. I love the black, don’t get me wrong...it’s absolutely stunning...BUT...the contrast draws the eye away from anything in the interior of your space and straight to the windows. Now, maybe that’s what you intend...as for me, I would rather have the visual focus on the interior...the wonderful furniture and art that I’m sure you will be putting there.

You only do the windows once. I just put in Pella french doors and windows. I went with the black vinyl windows where I could and did the black interiors. You can always add white trim around the window. French Doors are a charcoal gray on the outside, painted interior, but because we could see all the windows at the same time, I have chosen Wrought Iron ( BM( paint for trim of french doors so that they match the vinyl. I'm happy with the choice. I did not change the color for the other room ( white choice). The master bathroom has black windows with white dove trim color and crown molding. I am using kohler vintage nickel fixtures with a silvery wallpaper. I am also using a marble (look alike) for flooring and shower so that everything else is light and airy. I love the black windows and I think they will be versatile down the line.

Everything looks beautiful! We are building a house and I have decided to do black as well on the exterior and most likely the interior. 1) What would be the advantage of painting the interior windows black or just using vinyl? (Did I say that right) If anyone could help I would appreciate so much. 2) How would you explain the difference between using white molding/trim around the interior window vs not using anything. Sometimes the woodwork can get a little crazy! But often warms it up if done right. I’m just not sure how to do. Any Design advice? Thank you guys.

My house is a bank house with 3 different floors. All exterior will be white and I’ve ordered interior white for the top two floors... I’m considering black interior on the ground floor as they’ll be in a stone wall and in the kitchen, I love black frame windows but not sure if it’s okay or not since rest will be white? I’m thinking since it’s 3 diff floors I could prob get away with it

I have three levels as well and only put black interiors on the main level. I am very happy with my decision.

I used black roller shades on a few select windows for privacy and they look fantastic. You can choose the level of privacy you need for the space.

I have a question. If you have black exterior windows and do a few bedrooms with white interior windows can you see the different colors on the grilles when riding by the house? Also what do you do about the hardware on the inside with black exterior/ white interior in a single hung window?

Not sure about the grills, but I’ve seen brushed nickel hardware that would work with black and white.

Samantha, this is a year old post dedicated to the posters question. start your own post w/photos (you may get more help) but, I'm sure doing the one window w/the black is fine. I actually did the exact same thing w/my kitchen window. all my others are white.

Hi Samantha - My name is Ruthi. I did interior design for seventeen years although I am not presently working in the field. I built a modern farmhouse this year that has large contemporary windows. They are black on the exterior and interior! I love them!! Although in my bonus room I have black exterior windows with white on the interior. I am sorry that I did that. They are okay but all of the other black windows are outstanding! Hope this helps. Good luck!

I’d choose black or charcoal for the interior side of the windows. It’s a modern house. Black-and-white is classic modern. No greige anything, anywhere.

Mia Smyth, I am happy with the black Marvin Elevate windows we installed last year. They are fiberglass on the exterior and wood on the interior.

A concern I can foresee with black windows inside is dust showing up constantly..any thoughts on that for those who have black interior?

NO DUST WHAT SO EVER! THEY LOOK CLEANER THAN THE WHITE WINDOWS FOR SURE. I USED MILGARD THERMALLY IMPROVED.

Reb Thompson, we have black windows in the main areas and white in the bedrooms and the dust definitely shows more on the black ones than on the white but a quick once over with a swiffer takes care of it.
