Wood flooring advice!!!

We are having hardwood floors installed in our new home. We are going with a medium brown/greyish oak (see picture below). Wire brushed/hand scraped Our house is an open concept ranch. Trying to decide between 3.5 in or 5 in planks. Any advice? Pros and cons? Builder suggested going with the 5" so the floors are less "busy". Not sure if the 5" will look dated soon?

With a 5" plank on a solid hardwood typically there is more maintenance in terms of climate control in your home. High contents of humidity in the summer for instance can cause major cupping in a wider solid plank because the nails/staples are so far apart.
When considering a 5" plank, also invest in de-humidifiers. Aesthetically its a timeless choice. Not too narrow not too wide.

I love a wide-plank floor but found Grand Floors' technical considerations very helpful. Either plank size you go with your colors are very pleasing--it's going to beautiful!
