I love the idea of yellow for the doors. Any specific brand and color suggestions?

You need to post a picture with your home centered in the middle and showing both sides - a long shot from the curb.

If you would trim the shrubs to slope up to the front corners it would look better. Plant taller bushes at the corners. Add a few pots of color or plant smaller plants in front of the shrubs. Curve and widen the entry walk toward the steps instead of a straight walkway. The curve would increase the size of the flower beds. Widen and make a similar curve to the beds on the left side of the porch. Depending on how much you want to spend you could add a gable to extend over the front porch with round columns and wood railings instead of the iron.

I think your house has a lot of potential. You do need to get rid of that storm door however. Any color door black,yellow, red would look good. Add a wreath some potted plants and some perennials.I think you need to make your landscape beds around your house deeper and add some shrubs that give you year round color such as Firepower Nandina, Golden Mop Cypress. Aslo what about window boxes, Your home has a clean, crisp look to it and with a little money and some handwork, I think you could have a pretty, cozy, welcoming home.

I would definitely remove the storm door by the living room and paint the door a bright colour. The side door can be left white - you don't want to draw attention to this door.

Your house does have a lot of potential but I see it mainly in painting it a different color ( my personal faves are sage, mustard and brown ) and some nice landscaping. When the roof needs replacing use a chocolate brown or tan. The only major thing, structurally, I would do is to add a decorative pergola to join the section nearest the garage. I would narrow the driveway and either have the concrete stained or pavers applied on top. A paved path from the middle entrance to the driveway and beds in front with perennials, ornamental grasses and low growing evergreens would certainly add to the curb appeal . Below is a doodle showing my ideas.

My recommendation…..do not replace/repaint those vinyl shutters. Functional, authentic, shutters are on the house to close off the windows and protect them.

Try this look instead. Keep all your windows in the front of the house the same.

I like the idea of adding height at each corner of the house and extending the flower beds so they are symmetrical on each side of the door. The bushes you have in place now look like a bunch of chairs shoved up against a wall...you know? I think you should let them grow together more to create more of a smooth hedge row and plant some flowy plants with movement in front of them. You might try planting some fountain grass in front of each tall bush you add to each corner to change the boxy feeling of the front of the house. I love miscanthus sinesis...it has a great effect for reducing boxiness. Then you could add some yellow day lillies across the front of the flower beds on either side of the door with another row of purple salvia behind it and between the daylillies and the bushes you have in place. This would add a punch of color.

I agree with removing the storm door. You might also consider looking into putting lights on each side of the door (something larger than what you have). You can find reasonable lighting at Lowe's or even online at Lamps Plus. I am sure there are numerous other places. Fill those flower baskets at the windows with red flowering trailing plants and lots of sweet potato vine. Red, yellow and purple look great together. And if you are painting the door yellow as suggested above...those colors would compliment your new door color nicely. Another idea for the door would be Rye Green from SW. I like the wooden railing you have on the door by the garage. Perhaps you could have something built like that for the front door and paint it white to match the house. Something more substantial than what is currently there would look great....Maybe even with some details...not victorian but maybe X's? I don't know...just a thought. At the right (facing me) corner of the house, I would add a place for an American flag. Your house looks like a cape cod style and a flag would be darling.

Looking over at the garage, I would add fountain grass on that corner as well to dress it up a bit. I would move your trash cans (sorry, I am sure that is a lovely location for them) and I would add a large pot. You could put a boxwood bush in it and plant annuals around the boxwood changing with the seasons. Something fun to welcom you home!

Overall..you have a really cute house...reduce the boxiness and add some color and I think you have a winner winner chicken dinner! ;)

I almost forgot...a tree or two would be nice.

Another option for flowers would be to let the hedges grow a bit in height and make them more rounded in appearance at the top and then add a large wide row of shasta daisies in front with the taller bushes at the ends and the fountain grass. I love large groupings of the same kind of plant and by using white it ties the flower bed in with the house and can soften things. Just another thought.

this is kind of the idea I was thinking of for the new railing by the front door...NOT this of course...lol...but the style and painted white.
