Help!

Hello! We moved in a few months ago and I'm still trying to get things together. I need help choosing an area rug. I have a lot of grey going on. My walls are light grey, the fireplace is a darker grey and the floor is greyish wood as well. Any suggestions?

    A couple items"

You hang everything too high on your walls. I have lowered them in the photos. The mirror height would have been correct if you had purchased taller mirrors for over the mirrored cabinet and console.

The graphic art you selected is too small and hung too high

I have altered your drapery panels selection, but I would not have selected a brown sofa, and grey ottoman and I would not have accented them with maroon and teal. Additionally, the sofa and chairs should be placed closer to one another.

I'm assuming the brown sofa has to stay, so maybe we should work a color scheme of brown and grey with an accent color. Burgundy and teal would not be those colors. You should have selected the rug first and then used the accent colors in the rug to dictate your accent colors. Don't fret. Everyone makes these mistakes at the beginning.

Everything is solid colors. You need some prints in your rug, pillows, etc to pull it all together. Check out esalerugs.com.

I Think it's a dark grey sofa, not brown. printed rug for sure, and agree you should pull the furniture in to make a nice conversation area

This rug captures the colors in the room and makes things a bit more interesting.

I think the blinds should be in a wood tone to match the floor finish. The mirror selected to way too small for the height of the room.

Bring all your furniture closer to one another in a conversation area.

Your room will greatly benefit from table lamps on either side of your sofa and tables too now that I look at your photo again. Maybe a lamp between the two chairs if you can. What is on the side of the room opposite the fireplace?

Thanks every one! A few things, I'm 5'8, when I look at the mirror I can see myself in it, should still lower it? My sofas and the ottoman are the same color, not brown but dark grey. Across from the fireplace is a wall with a loveseat same as the sofa. My pillows are lime green, teal and purple. The lighting wasn't the best in the pictures. Totally agree with the art, I felt something was missing but wasn't sure what. now I know I need something with frames. I love the rug suggestions! And the pictures are from At Home. Thanks again!

Your face should not be in the bottom of the mirror but above the top half of the mirror.

Beverly, I don't think I'm a lover of orange but I *love* that board you put together! That rug is juicy. Tawanda, do you like it?

Thanks, ackcx3........saw that rug in this other poster's home, and have liked it ever since. It works well with the grey tones and the orange is subtle.
