Help! Cabinet Pulls

I'm trying to decide upon what size knobs and pulls to purchase for my kitchen. I've seen the recommendations for the total length of the pull or pulls to be about 1/3 the drawer length. So 10 inch pulls or 2- 5 inch pulls for a 30 inch drawer. I would rather use just one hand to open a drawer but it seems that anything over 6 inches goes into the realm of an appliance pull and the cost goes up dramatically! I don't really have the budget for $80 each pulls! Are people really spending that much to obtain that look or am I missing something?

I think you can get by with the smaller and do two of them. Aesthetically, I like the look of the two pulls. But I have to tell you the ease of opening the drawer with one of those long pulls is worth the price. It was a budget buster, but I'm glad we went with the longer pulls now that I am two years past.

Look on eBay for the styles you want. I got 6 1/2" brand new Top Knobs in the exact color and style I wanted for $2.50 each.

I had to clean up water scale but I'm willing to do that.

I got 8" restoration Hardware glass pull from Habitat for $5.

You just have to be patient and look everywhere.

I am doing the 6 5/16 pulls from Amerock for my bigger drawers. They are almost 7" total length so they will have to do considering they cost $70 less than the 8" pulls...

There are many, many threads on this subject if you search the forum. The general rule (and consensus) is to use pulls that are 1/3 the size of the drawer, but you will see that rules are meant to be broken!! I've always liked Breezygirl's pull placement and did mine much the same in my kitchen. I'm very happy with how it looks, I can open even my widest and heaviest drawers with just a couple fingers, I'm sure thanks in part to the Blum glides.

I used the greenwich from hickory hardware and they were about $12-18 per pull for the larger ones. I only got 10 and 12" ones. and I also got 6" ones and they were cheaper

We got our hardware from CoolKnobsAndPulls.com (haha) and only paid around $9 for 11-inch long ones. They had longer, as well. It depends what look you're going for, though. http://www.coolknobsandpulls.com/product/25274/1500-224-ckp-brand-hampton-collection-bar-pull-amber-gold

IKEA also has some extremely long pulls for very little money if you like the modern look—we used them on our office cabinets and made them the full vertical length of the cabinet door. They look great and are very easy to open!

I used Amerock Riva satin nickle cabinet pulls. I used 3 sizes; 4-1/2", 5-3/4", & 7". The 7" look fine on my 36" drawers and the 5-3/4" look fine on my 30" drawers. The smallest are used on the smaller doors.

Moms2sulu it looks like you used the Amerock Revitalize pulls? That is the style I have been considering. What length did you end up using on your drawers?

Yes, you are correct; they are the Revitalize. We did bite the bullet and went with the expensive 12" pulls. Although crazy expensive, we are glad we purchased them and have no regrets.
