If that doesn't work: Door and shutters are maybe BM Wythe blue, Palladian blue, buxton blue, wedgewood grey. Somewhere in this family could be close. House could be edgecomb grey. Good luck!

I recently had a situation like this and I left a note in the mailbox. It felt less intrusive than knocking on a stranger's door. I left my cell number and they texted me the next day and even sent me a photo of the label on the paint can lid so I had the custom color formula! Go for it.

I agree it's a good option to use the mailbox you probably encountered an every day person like the people here helping others. We don't know the ppl and the mailbox is a privacy issue (sad as it is to be concerned) however u don't know the ppl and I would knock. Leave a note showing from beneath their door mat with your cell or? I agree lwfromny it's a great idea in theory, yet ppl get strange about this and I live in Ohio now where most would not....yet?

I can already tell--just from the upbeat tone of your writing--that whoever answers that door tomorrow will be delighted to help you! If they're not, then they're dumb. :)

Gorgeous paint color. Reminds me of SW Sea Salt, maybe slightly bluer. Let us know what you find out! I settled on neutral Argos Grey for my front door, but what you have in the pic would be perfect. We painted our house close to that color (SW Morning Sun, slightly yellower).

We love this neighborhood! Lots of pretty older homes and some really nice newer ones too. There are canopies of live oaks on most streets! A lot of people in this city prefer the newer developments, but I love these older established neighborhoods!

I feel like this is really close to a color that was Color of the Year a couple of years back. ok, more than a couple -- Wythe Blue from Benjamin Moore (2012) is close.

Your photo leans a bit more blue, but you could start with those chips and see where it gets you. Interested to hear what your neighbor says!

I recently saw a cottage in our area that had been refurbished that looks similar to the colors you like. The exterior colors are SW 7621 Silvermist (Door), SW7632 Modern Gray for the body of the house and SW7631 City Loft for the trim. Very inviting and fresh looking.

Hope they don't mind if a neighbor..just down the street..
copies their color scheme. Worth a try...

@hummingalong2: I take your comment to mean that you, or someone you know, would mind if a neighbor painted the trim on their home the same as yours. Hopefully Lauren's neighbor will be more gracious than that. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Actually, hummingalong's comment brought to mind a similar situation from my childhood: We, too, lived in a well-established neighborhood, mostly full of very traditional colonial-style homes. At one point, when a parcel of land in the neighborhood suddenly became available for the building of new homes, a young couple knocked on OUR door, saying how much they admired our brick and trim color combination, etc. Next thing you know, they're building a home with the same color scheme. My parents were actually proud of the fact that their older home was the inspiration for this beautiful new home!

We have seen several posting over the years on Houzz from people that are angry that someone copied their colors. Hard to know how people are going to react.

Well, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery! If it's a custom color, there's really no way for me to get a match. It's doubtful it would look identical even if we used the exact same color since my house is white and is a different architectural design.

Here are some nice blues. Even if you do get the exact color it may not be be the same; blue is notorious for fading and that may have been on there for awhile. I would go and ask though! I'm sure they wouldn't mind and it's a great way to meet a new neighbor!

Sammy, That's a lovely saying, and I hope Lauren's neighbor feels that way too. Personally, I would prefer to pick out a number of very similar small samples to try out on my own home, and choose from them, rather than putting a neighbor on the spot...just in case they are not too happy about me asking for an 'exact match' for my own nearby home.

As you can see it is very hard to determine the exact blue! But then again there are so many lovely blues!
