Should this hideous light fixture be saved?

We recently purchased a home with this fixture in the dining room and the previous owner implied that it was valuable. We haven't found any markings on it. Does anyone know if it does indeed have value or was she just being sentimental? Thanks for your help!

I would try to contact the previous owner and ask her if she would like to have it.

I don't know what its monetary value is, but its perceived value to you is $0 so take it down, sell if possible, and buy what you love!

Definitely agree! It is already down! We were wondering if it should go in the trash or if it could be sold for anything greater than the cost of the bulbs. ;)

Dont trash it. Someone some where would like it. Donate it to a local thrift store. I think it has major charm.

Whoa. I actually do think it has some value, so I would sell it. Don't trash it. I think it would be really nice to first contact the seller and ask if she wants it.

Do not give it to the previous owner. If she wanted it at all, she would have had it replaced with a cheap new fixture. Sell it if you can. Very ugly to me.

It does look unique..perhaps a consignment store will try to sell it...to get any real money ...if it has value ...you must have more info from the previous owner...I like putting these little oddities in places like walk-in closets ....bathrooms...and laundry rooms ...sort of conversation pieces...unless you just think it is ugly, of course...in that case...donate or gift it ...as one poster suggested

I found some kind ...Circa 1950's Tuscan hand painted ceramic chandelier. It is not so close ... but has some common elements

I would get an appraiser and try to then sell it on Ebay under Antiques/lighting. It might be worth more than you know. Couldn't hurt.

Obviously if the former owner wanted it, she would have taken it.

Get it appraised and go Craigslist... Ebay will take 10% Paypal 2% and then shipping. Post it on Craigs if it is worth selling and accept only text messages only, make that clear... NO EMAIL too many scams. Set the price as what you will take and say, "price is firm". I've sold a fair amount of antique furniture on Craigs.... be straight up and forward and it's all cash and no fees taken free to post....
