Thanks! I've read such varying cure times but some were DYI and I'm not sure if the correct prep and paint were used.

I would probably cry as well if something mares the paint because it took them 3 days of painting with 24 hour dry times between to get it all correct. Either it dripped horribly or the sheen was off because they tried touching it up with a brush.

Thankfully our contractor has been amazing and is making sure everything is perfect with no argument. I would feel terrible if we ruined the hard work that went into it.

Oil based paints take less time to cure than latex. It also depends on humidity... do you live in a dry climate?

Not what i would have used on that bookcase. Problem with non cabinet specific paints is the mill thickness of the paint. Especially if they had an issue and actually put more on. Why wouldn't they use Kem Aqua? Probably a cheaper paint, thinner coats and a more durable finish. Heck even Solo would have been easier to touch up and dry faster and harder.

The enamel will be soft for a long time. I would wait at least 30 days. In that time frame do yourself a favor and buy every felt stick on you can fins and put them on the bottom of everything including the drawer and doors.

The moment that paint didn't know about cure or dry time I would have put my checkbook away.

Beautiful bookcases and enamel was used for years and will be durable when it dries but the reason modern paints were developed were to eliminate the dry and stickiness of enamel. Also touch ups?

It's done let it dry and let life happen.

Yes, I did get worried when he didn't know what cure time meant; he thought I was talking about dry time which is not at all what I was asking. Nothing could be done since they had already sprayed one coat of paint on it. The issue the painters were having was they weren't spraying enough paint on the case which was leading to some discoloration so since they weren't going very thick hopefully that's a better sign.

At the end of the day I am happy with the finish even though I was expecting it to be slightly better, which has everything to do with the paint. I do feel as if they did the best of their abilities and tried very hard to make me happy. After 35 days of having our house a workshop just for this one room my husband and I just want to job done.
