I've read up a lot and Concork Floor, Inc. definitely has a lot of good information. In the end I'm thinking porcelain tile will just be best. I found Molin and ordered samples, but to get the glue down requires 2000 sq ft order and we don't need that much.

That new concrete HAS to be 90 days or older AND meet all the pH levels and MC (Moisture Content) requirements for both the adhesive and the floor itself.

If you are jacking out ALL the concrete (ie. the ENTIRE BASEMENT FLOOR is jacked out and you are down to RAW EARTH over 100% of the basement), then a moisture barrier will be added to the "new pour" of concrete. If not, you will NOT have vapour barriers under the old concrete. When carpeting over old concrete, there are two areas of thought: breathable pads allows water to move through the pad and carpet so nothing is "trapped"; vs moisture resistant pads that stops water from moving through....allowing it to sit underneath the pad and gather microbes.
I would prepare for 90+ days for this concrete to properly cure. No matter which floor you install, the requirement is still the same. The rule of thumb is: 1 day per 1mm of thickness. That means 1" (25.4mm) requires 1 month (30 days) to cure. There are very few concrete pours in basements that are only 1" thick. Most are several inches thick (3-4" is common). That's where the 90 days comes into play. Even with "additives" that help it dry faster, the pH level changes (salt deposits) that inhibit the adhesive from grabbing = same problem as green concrete = full floor failure.

You will need to wait the 90 days AND you will need to have the concrete cleaned before you glue down the vinyl. The curing additives are ubiquitous in the industry....the installer will need to know that part of the prep will be to clean the concrete before gluing the vinyl.

The entire concrete floor will not be removed. We'll be removing just what's required for installing new plumbing, so no moisture barrier. Do I need to follow the same rules for letting the concrete cure if I'm putting down tile?
