Why are you using a sofa table in your bedroom?..I would do a console instead.

Because this looks right in the place and I chose it together with my ID and I like it. And, BTW, it is gold while the item you posted is silver. And it looks great in my bedroom.

prob do a mirror that's within 2/3 of the length. maybe no bigger than 30-36. I would hang it 6-10" above. I like it.

Sorry my comment sounded negative..not at all what I intended...just thought if you have a nice big wall why not also add more heft or storage..maybe even a desk like in the image Beth posted....beautiful and practical you could still hang a beautiful mirror over it!:).....if you still do the sofa table I would hang the mirror vertical with your high ceilings it will give it a more grand feeling.

@Home Interiors with Ease -- thanks for the clarification. I have no need for storage; we have huge closets with tons of drawers there and no need for a desk there; just something pretty. If I go vertical, what size mirror would you suggest and how high from the console top should it be hung.

Start with marking the middle of the mirror at 60" from the floor....if that puts the mirror 8-10" from top of sofa table than no adjusting needed...

@Home Interiors with Ease -- I ordered the Ariel mirror I posted above (from Overstock -- best price was there). Unfortunately it arrived broken. They reshipped and the new one arrived today. I am not home yet, but my husband is and he will open it shortly. Hopefully this one is good,

I am still awaiting a number of other items for the room: I have a large upholstered chair and headboards on order and I'm working on decorative pillows for the beds and probably new linen. Some of that won't happen too fast, but it's a work in progress. The furniture alone made a huge difference in the room.

This a new custom-built home that we finished and moved into almost a year ago. I had furniture from my old home and really hadn't planned to replace it, but it just didn't look right here. I found that every time I walked into the bedroom it hit me so much that it just wasn't right. So, while everything else was done a year ago, I decided to do this now. I love it already and it should be fantastic when finished.

The replacement mirror from Overstock came, and guess what? It is broken too! I'm giving Overstock another chance to replace it since they are giving me a $30 credit for the bother of dealing with 2 broken mirrors.

That is crazy....darn hope the third try works out!

Here's some photos of the table in the room. I really need advice about the stuff on it. I'm sure that right now (any of the versions) it is too busy, but I don't have such a good eye for arranging these things. Of the items pictures, what would you use and where would you put them?

Ok first your mirror is hung way to high...it should only be about 6" above the top of the sofa table...that will get rid of that awkward wall gap!:)

can you get another matching lamp?

being this is a bedroom it is best to remove the glass vases...maybe keep one you love in the color of your room.

add a storage holder onto the bottom in a pretty fabric that complements your room and fill it with a beautiful throw coming out and stuff it with a accent pillow to soften the table. Add a couple beautiful Glam bling frames of family in black and white....stack white ming boxes between the two lamps.

Thanks so much. Great ideas. I'll get working on it. Unfortunately, for now, the mirror will stay at that height. I was in fact advised by my ID (who is presently on vacation overseas) to hang it 12" above the table. It is in fact 18" above the table. The handyman hanging it messed up badly. Originally it was even 18" higher than it is now. He just couldn't measure right. He did patch (not so well) and paint those holes and moved it down, but not as far as wanted. I had a very hard time finding someone to hang it, so I am going to live with it now at that height. Some timei n the future when we paint, I'll get it moved down.

In all my years of design and working with other designers I have never heard of hanging a mirror over a table any more than around 6" above surface...?? Sorry that just was not good advice:(

I'm working on your suggestion of the basket with a pillow and throw. What, if anything else should go on the bottom shelf to the sides of the basket?

oops, sorry, was following a while back... see that was already brought up! Hope you lowered it as suggested 4 to 6" above the table top.

Only basket and throw are needed on lower area...keep it simple so the beautiful sofa table and mirror are the focal point not what is on it......can you get another lamp? That would really finish it off with a couple stacked ming boxes and a pretty bling photo frame between them...:)

If you have no gold... nothing wrong with mixing metals. However, am not sure what the surrounding space looks like.
