Pocket Door

Please help me (again). I need pointers / solution on a pocket door my contractor installed at my house and he says it was installed correctly. For some reason there is space between the frame and the door. My kids can literally push the door 3 inches + forward

Please help!!!

1) I can see inside my walls
2) the door swings forward / back

Is this normal and if not, what is the solution?

You're missing the perimeter stop moldings. They run around the center of the jambs on each side of the door.

I don't see any doorstop -- typically 1.25" pine trim added to door casing/frame.

And door also needs to be adjusted so it's plumb (neutral so it's not rubbing on either stop).

I believe there is generally a guide on the floor just inside the jamb with the door slit. The guide controls the movement of the door in the direction you show. No stops are needed.

And the door slab might be too narrow.

I have some pocket doors and, like John said, mine have guides on the floor just inside the wall.

why is that door coming all the way out? that is not right. you need a bigger door. When you open the door and it hits the opposite jamb, it should still be in the 'pocket' You shouldn't be able to pull the door all the way out of the pocket. And yes, there are door guides to keep the door from swinging to and fro. it guides it smoothly in and out so it won't scrape on the inside of the wall area.

we just did our own pocket door and it looks like this. (still have to put the guide at the bottom. lost the original one and had to buy a replacement)

I hope you haven't paid him. He's a buffoon.
