Built-In Cabinet help in Contemporary Dining Room.

I want to have a built in installed along the whole wall where the buffet and mirror are. We entertain a lot and end up putting folding tables on either side of buffet. As you can see in photos, we can't part with folding table just yet.) A built in will eliminate this and also give us more cabinet space. I want to have a buffet style (maybe granite or funky colored glass going along whole bottom cabinets) and open and closed lighted shelving on top. Maybe mirrors under windows since I can't really put a cabinet there... Any help is appreciated.

Have you considered built ins on just the bottom? I feel like bottom and top would overwhelm the space.

I'd do just a row at the bottom -- it will feel like the longer buffet you wish you had, and you can always put candlesticks or lamps or something on the ends or in the center for a little vertical. Actual shelves would just lead to an overly busy look, and having more stuff up at head level makes the room feel more crowded too. A compromise might be to have a narrow glass cabinet added at each end (from the counter up along the side walls) as a place to show off some fancy dishes or whatever.

If going modern, you might consider one or a pair of these instead of a built-in unit. This is 80" long.
