I'm not sure what that first post was about............I prefer those ledges to be empty. They are too high to see anything and everyone fills them w/ fake plants that get dusty.

What a great Contemporary space that the previous owner tried to ruin with an overly ornate and inappropriate cabinet choice. Don't compound that sin by stuffing that ledge full of stuff. They really look best with nothing on them. Stop trying decorate your way out of the dissonance. Focus on that gut kitchen rehab to come. Flat slab cabinets and no clutter will do wonders with the look.

I think it works, hang it and live with it for awhile! you can always put it somewhere else or give it away if you don't like it.

I'm with Sophie, don't obstruct the cool lines if the upper space. I'd love to see simple light cabs, like beech, some with glass. The cabs now are just so oppressive.

Nice kitchen. Its refreshing to see something different. Your painting adds some nice colour to the area.

Take the fake plants away hang the art and thats it. The cabinets do not work for me either . IMO the best kind of art up there would be something more like pieces of pottery instead of an actual painting .

Thank you all for your ideas! I appreciate your help and suggestions. Definitely going to try a few different things. Tried the empty look for a couple months and did not care for it. Also, the cabinets look darker than they are; however, we love them. They go with the architecture of our home which is full of arches, stucco, spanish tile and carved furniture. Our home is in the Southwest and backs up against the mountains with a lot of rock and vegetation so it all goes together.

Bare works for me. Collects dust. Speaking from experience.

If you like something there, what about some framed photos like in pics. Love the art but won't work with photos, have you got another wall in the kitchen you can hang it, the colours are perfect or just leave painting there with nothing else. Cool kitchen
