Downdraft or flush ceiling-mounted hood?

I'm struggling with how to vent a stove that will be under a pass-through to the dining room. I don't want a big hood blocking the view to the kitchen. I'm considering:

a 36-inch Jenn-Air cooktop with downdraft [https://www.houzz.com/products/jenn-air-jgd3536wb-36-gas-downdraft-cooktop-prvw-vr~1346175[(https://www.houzz.com/products/jenn-air-jgd3536wb-36-gas-downdraft-cooktop-prvw-vr~1346175)

or a conventional oven with a Best Cirrus ceiling mounted range hood http://www.bestrangehoods.com/store/products/productdetail.aspx?id=b7b66c7a-8d84-42b8-99f3-1630e77c7102

I currently don't have a hood so whatever I get will be better than what I have now. We don't fry a lot but I am looking forward to having an effective hood. The Best Cirrus seems ridiculously expensive for what it is.

I'm looking for other options.
