What eats tomato foliage?

I wouldn't have thought that any animal would eat the leaves of tomato plants, but that's what's been happening. With most, all the leaves are taken, leaving bare stems, but one plant was pulled out, roots and all, and carted off.

I know that there are deer, rabbits, woodchucks, and squirrels around. There are probably also chipmunks and opossums, but I haven't seen any.

I could surround the plants with chicken wire, but eventually they'd be too large for it to help. Completely fencing the garden isn't feasible.
