Have you already moved in? Is the front entrance one story (easily painted) or two (requires ladders or scaffolding)?

You could replace the foyer lighting, paint a taupe color on walls, and add artwork. I'd also paint out your wood trim and railing either white or black for great impact.

Hi. The front entry is tall; it'll require ladders/scaffolding. It has a catwalk that crosses the space (you can kind of see it above the arch) with lots of spindles which I want to paint too. We will not move in for a couple of weeks yet.

Suzi, Since you're the expert.... Do you think it's ok to paint baseboards and spindles, etc. white but leave the "oaky" trim around the windows? I don't think we want to eliminate all of the wood look from the house. I also think it could tie into the wood floors. Not sure how people do it now...

Replace the yellow and the cranberry with a fresher color that complements the brick and oak, if the oak is staying.
