Dining room help! So boring!

I recently replaced the carpet with laminate flooring and I'm looking to add some color to the room as everything is tan.... the furniture and paint color (tan color) is staying.... I'm opened to replacing curtains and/or adding an area rug/table runner/ new light fixture...etc.
Any ideas? The furniture is maple with gold accents.

Each panel is 52 x 84" in different neutrals -- not saying black or navy would work, but if you want a contemporary feel, maybe the darker? or what is the rest of your house like?

The rest of my house is pretty much earth tones. I got green/blue/grey color scheme.

Wow your floor came out great :) Some accessories in dark blue would look pretty.

I'm not too sure how navy blue would look in there with the maple color and gold accents on the furniture ?
    Any other color combinations?

I can't tell Mandy what gold accents? if you want, show up close...

on the China cabinet the knobs on the door are gold.... I also have two pictures on the wall too that have gold accents....I don't want to replace the chair cushions or make the room look busy with patterns. The colo rs in the pictures are a soft pink and yellow.

Heres how the set looks now with the new floors.....minus all the chairs

Ditch the swags and put moulding-height drapery panels on either side of the window. The pale carpeting is too light to compliment your furniture. If there's decent would that's covered up, remove the carpet. In any case a large rug (?oriental?) would perk up the furniture. Art/mirror/sconces would help.

Change out the lighting for something in gold, and more delicate. The heavy black fixture doesn't complement your furniture.

the carpet has already been removed and I'm definitely open to changing out the light fixture.

If you're not going to go all the way with change by painting the walls or changing the dining set, I'd say add pink curtains to match the wall art for a different color than brown or beige. And maybe get an open chandelier or even a soft white globed one to add more light but less harshness with the black.

Do you have any inspiration pics? If you want to keep it light but add a little color light blue would be pretty for the drapes. Or if you want to keep it monochromatic, add different shades of tan and ivory :)

sorry that pic posted twice. I think the black candy is too dark...unless you want black to be an accent color and you can add black frames etc.

those are beautiful pics! I came across this pic and fell in love!

any idea on where to find those light fixtures?
I think your room is lovely and all it needs is some blue accents in form of a rug, vase, curtain etc.. The light fitting is a bit on a heavy side and black maybe something lighter and with a bit of bling would be nicer.

PS replace white plates in the display cabinet with colourful glass vases and drinking glasses.maybe a mirror on each side of the cabinet.

I don't know your table size or budget, but here area few from Houzz :)

Can you paint or stain your dining set white or black to make it look more modern?

If not, then reupholster your chairs and replace the tan fabric with black to give it some drama.

You can also paint the upper half of your wall a different colour. This can make a statement without breaking the bank.

I definitely don't want to redo the fabric as the set was quite expensive ....
beautiful light fixtures, but I didn't want to spend over 200 for a new light...

You can easily spray paint the light you have :)

You can reupholster the fabric on the chairs yourself. It is not difficult - look online for tutorials.

Also, painting the upper half of the dining room wall would improve the space. The beige/tan look is quite dated. Why not try something a bit different? It's only paint... I would spend the money on new upholstery and paint and skip the rug.

Well.... I have many design dilemmas too, and in my dining room! But what I first noticed in your photo are all the white dishes displayed in your china cabinet. I think some added color would really help, and may be a start of introducing color in your room and something in those same colors for a table centerpiece or runner would be nice. And keeping the room neutral, as it is now, will make the accent colors pop. You mentioned having green in your home - and since there's some green in your framed art, that would be a good color to use. Many people mentioned using blue - so it would be your choice. I agree a more delicate light fixture would be nice too. I don't think you have to go out and spend $$ recovering those pretty chairs - they look perfectly fine.

My DR furniture is not identical but very close. It is part of a great room concept. I will send a couple more to give context. I too am wanting to 'refresh' but here it is now.

    More of the same.

Your set is very much like mine with the exception of the black cushions! Good taste lol!

Just an example of how pretty light blue is with neutrals. You could place smaller blue dishes in front of your white ones in the China to add color.

I'm thinking of adding blue/grey panels and the same color for a table runner if I can find it..... I'm still unsure of an area rug though...
